Palaeosaniwa Canadensis, the 4 meter carnivorous monitor lizard

Snow25

Suggestion

So my idea is for a giant prehistoric lizard, the Palaeosaniwa Canadensis. They measure from 3-4 meters in length (about 12 feet).

Taming: I was thinking it could be similar to the shadowmane taming method, except instead of fish, it uses titanomyra. There could be a new item similar to the fish basket, a bug net or something. once the bugs are collected, you release them and the lizard will grab them with it's tongue like a chameleon does. Ghillie mist be worn to tame, or it will try to eat you.

Wild: They will be aggressive, and are able to jab you with their tongue, which will do a small stun.

Tamed: Rideable, players riding will be able to do the tongue stun, as well as a tongue grab similar to a bloodstalker. They will be fantastic chitin gatherers, and will have a buff while near bugs. They will also be able to climb on walls and ceilings. The Palaeosaniwa will be able to turn chitin into a very strong venom. You will be able to collect venom from them periodically as long as chitin is in their inventory, the venom has tranquilizing properties and can act as a powerful narcotic. You can also consume the venom, and it will have a great positive effect on you, removing all debuffs for 90 seconds, and all creatures that eat you in those 90 seconds, wild or tamed, will be poisoned for 15-25% of their health. After the 90 seconds, you will fully torp out and be unconscious for a bit.

Description: A huge Megalania sized prehistoric lizard, these creatures are much bigger than their fossilized counterparts. And All the more dangerous. They are peach, black, and brown in color. They have long tongues, made to use as both whips, and for grabbing, and injecting venom, along with their venomous fangs. They have massive and strong jaws, razor sharp claws, and long, Prehensile tail, covered with spikes. However, their variants have different colors and appearances.  They have been known to track prey for miles when they have been bitten. Their legs are arranged somewhat differently, as they are able to switch from splayed out, to right underneath, enabling them to gallop for a short period of time, as it will drain their stamina.

Wild: These massive no nonsense lizards usually hunt in groups of three, tho in are rare cases where they will  travel in packs of 5 or six, the leader being the largest, and sporting a nasal horn. Paleosaniwa are equipped with large venomous fangs, and a long poison coated prehensile tongue. They also sport large claws, used for climbing walls/ceilings, similar to Megalania, as well as for digging and battle. Their tails are covered in armor spikes, coated with venom. When biting victims, it causes a tremendous amount of pain, scaring any unwanted enemy. However, they can all spit an acidic venom, and use it to melt through certain elements. They can be found in many different environments, each with it’s own variants. Tundra variants are white, and have heat sensor pits, less spikes, and white quills. The jungle/forest variants are dark green, and are usually up in trees, and have longer tails and tongues, and will leap out of trees in groups, and grab whatever creature that come across them in their jaws, all at once, holding it in place while they tear it apart. Desert variants are mainly burrowers, and are nocturnal, with patterns that mimic the desert, and climb cliffs in trios in search of food.

Domesticated: These aggressive lizards can be tamed with one thing..eggs. They will go to great lengths to steal and eat any egg. Because of this, they have developed a symbiotic relationship with Oviraptors. The Paleosaniwa act as the muscle, distracting the parents, while the Ovis steal the eggs for them to share. This could come useful for tames. Their saddles come equipped with venom dart guns, and gas bombs to deter enemies. All you have to do, is give it an egg, the more the better. Rarer eggs are also welcome. These creatures are impressive mounts, bashing through rocks and scaling terrain.
