Smilodon The Blood Quenching Cat

cursedhunter

Suggestion

Name: Smilodon

Diet: Carnivore

Species: Saber-Toothed Cat

Time Period: Pleistocene epoch

Temperament  Aggressive

In the wild the smilodon hunt in packs, they will be typically in packs of 5 . The smilodon go after large herbivores .  In the wild the smilodon will sink their fangs into its preys body causing them to bleed. Once the smilodon's fangs are released from the preys body they get a buff called ' Blood Rush' giving the creature a 1.5x speed boost and allows it to attack with it's claws dealing a stackable bleed to its prey.

How to tame:

To tame this saber-toothed cat you the player must kill all but the alpha of the pack which will then send it into a rage mode. what you must do is get away from the smilodon and allow it to sink its fangs into your dinosaurs flesh sucking their life force but also increasing its taming.

Where to find:

The smilodon will typically be found in the freezing cold sections of the snow (e.g murder murder snow on ragnarok) and found in some grasslands across the different arks(Design of smilodon may be different depending on which one the player comes across)

Once tamed:

Once you tame this creature you'll be able to ride without a saddle but can be equipped with a saddle at level 60. When riding on its back you gain a severe insulation buff whilst in the cold so survivors can survive in the cold a lot more easier.  The attacks it has are a bite attack, and a intimidate debuff roar which decreases the attack of those that are effected. Once close enough to a target you can press the jump button causing the smilodon to sink its fangs into a creature. After 10 seconds of dealing mild bleed damage to the target creature the smilodon will be released and gain the blood rush buff. This buff provides 1.5x speed to the smilodon and changes the smilodon's bite, causing it to deal a stackable bleed and holding down left click/right trigger makes it deal a powerful slash which makes it lift up its entire body and slashed down on its opponent. (Only the alpha can do the jump attack on creatures and if successful causes all tamed smilodons around it to deal bleed with their bite attack.

This creature can be found on: The island, extinction, gen1, ragnarok, valguero ( Basically every map that has snow) and maps with grass lands such as gen2 and rag.

The Smilodon, or saber-toothed tiger, was the fiercest predator of the megafauna. Although it is related to modern cats, it was not a tiger, as is generally assumed. It was more robust, with short hind legs and a reduced tail, so paleontologists think that it did not chase its prey, but hunted it on the prowl. Their teeth measured over 15 cm and, together with their claws and powerful front legs, were their most effective hunting weapons. The teeth were reduced to the bare minimum for stabbing, tearing, and cutting.

The South American species: Smilodon populator was the largest, and its mass probably reached about 400 kg (almost twice that of a modern adult lion).

*Especies: Machairodontinae

*Time: Pleistocene

*Temperament: aggressive

*Diet: carnivorous

*Skills:

Principal attack: the smilodon would use its front legs like sarps interspersed like a cat.

Secondary attack: the smilodon would bite in the direction we look.

Special attack: The smilodon would assume a stalking position, run frantically and jump on its prey directly at its prey's neck, knocking it down and dealing heavy damage, of course this would have a limit depending on the height of the animal or dinosaur. In the first instance, activating this ability would cause the smilodon to crouch and gain some camouflage. Also, it would send a message to all players in a certain area that they are being hunted. If the animal is larger than a rhino, the smilodont will crash and deal some damage, but it won't knock it down or bite its neck, and it will have little chance of breaking its fangs. Now, being on the ground with the prey below you, you would enter a "hunter" or "killer" mode, which would be serious with the primary attack you would stick your fangs into the neck of your victim and with the secondary attack you would jump back , exiting the "hunter" mode in case things get dangerous for you.

Pasive Special: If he takes a lot of damage while using his special ability, he will have a high chance to break his fangs, making him unable to use his special ability forever and when using his secondary attack he will receive a part of the important damage, leaving him almost useless in combat, as it happened in real life. All this consequence so that you know how to choose your prey well before hunting them.

*Domestication: his domestication would be sleeping him and giving him meat, his favorite meat is cooked ovis or regular kibble

*Author's words:

The end for me. I would like that even if he uses that ability, the saberthoot that is in the ark is given that ability and he reworks it shortly. Even if it is not voted it made me very happy to be able to give an idea to my favorite game.

Pdt: sorry for the spelling mistakes, I don't speak English

A larger sabertooth tiger with a slimmer body physique.Noticeable features:Large canine teeth.Black stripes.Dense Fur.

Taming method:Trial by combat.Dropping a smilodons health to 25 percent and finishing it off using a bat would result in the smilodon being knocked unconscious.Followed by that it is the traditional taming method.

Ability:It is able to traverse mountains by climbing steep mountain cliffs with fast speeds and is able to grasp on to preys as large as wooly mammoths in order to inflict gùùùreat amounts of damage.

Greats swimmers.

Terrible against sky creatures.

A bond mechanic should be installed where the longer you have bonded with your smilodon the more damage it inflicts when accompanying you(must be capped somewhere)ùùu

But it's already in the game

Ark's current "sabertooth" is an early-game mount similar to the raptor, just without a pack bonus. It is currently Ark's only truly feline creature, as the thylacoleo is technically a marsupial. I would absolutely love to see an upgraded version of the saber, and I really like the idea of having Smilodon that spawn in packs and have a pack boost. It would incorporate the idea of a "cave lion" that some people like the idea of while still introducing a primal-looking creature that seems like it belongs in Ark.

Here's just some of my ideas for this creature!

Disclaimer: I don't expect to see this creature with every ability suggested, they're merely meant to serve as examples as to what could be. The community obviously could decide what to add and what not to.

- Firstly, a mammal that is close in power to the Allosaur would be cool to have around, as allos are the only medium dinos that spawn in packs currently. Something like a smilodon would not render allos useless, as they could either be on the same level to add variation, or have adjusted abilities to make them slightly better or slightly worse that an allosaur.

- A pack of smilodon should be a shadowmane counter. Shadowmanes are very good solo, and a solo Smilodon might prove to be a poor opponent, but as a pack they could have a buff that prevented riders from being dismounted or something along those lines.

- As a feline with a robust build and thick coat, they should live in colder climates and provide insulation (especially with Fjordur's new cold realm!).

- As they're meant to be on the larger side, giving the Smilodon a grab ability with its mouth similar to that of a megalosaur would be cool to see.

- A creature that is meant to roam the rocky terrain of the north has large paws and likely sharp claws, so the ability to make small jumps up vertical walls at the cost of immense stamina drain would be cool.

- Its fangs should be good for something other than raw damage, so an attack combining a stego's impale attack and a deinonychus' attach attack would be AWESOME to see, where the smilodon makes a leap at larger prey items and latches on to sink its fangs into its opponent until its stamina drains, injuring larger dinos (bleed) and tackling smaller ones.

- As for its appearance, broad front shoulders and a lithe body seem to be a staple for the smilodon, and thick fur to survive the cold is a must. Also, imagine if it had a small mane running down its neck to its shoulders, sort of like some king cheetahs!

- To tame, adults should be wary of humans and fiercely defensive of their cubs, which would render adults untameable, but cubs could be tamed passively once the pack (or pride) is taken care of.

Feel free to discuss what abilities it should have, I'd like to see what the community thinks!
