Mastodonsaurus, the biggest amphibian ever

kage13ofmordor

Suggestion

I really feel that Ark need more amphibians, and i think that thes best add can be the Mastodonsaurus, the biggest and heavy amphibian for all the times, around 6m, i think can be the rival for the sarco in rivers and swamps, clearly both oh them behind of Deinosuchus (of ark additions), his hability can be extreme regeneration in cold water.

For fight for the preys and habitat with the sarcos, they live more in the cold zones, but spawn on tropical zones to.

i think that is a good implement too if the creature are weak in hot climate without water, but strong in his environment, and lose life if it ends up drying.

As utility this creature drop when your farm his corpse a blue blood, if they survivor ingest it, automatically restore his life and heal any disase or negative condition, in 15 mins the survivor cant drink the blue blood (one stuck only one)

maybe is better than can make like a vaccine with the blue blood, idk if wildcard think about this im sure him can think something better xd

I like the idea of another healer. Let's spice it a little. It's blood is considered a super regenerative right? Let's scratch its swamp fever cure as there is already an antidote in game for it. It acts as a stamina regenerative as well, but drains water and food significantly, say 75%, for balancing purposes. Its blood is part of a new recipe, (add water, Narcotics, Stimulants, Azulberries, Tintoberries, and the blood). It's basically healing brew, energy brew, and a cure combined into one brew.

Wild:

Mastodonsaurus is one of few amphibians found on the arks accompanied by only the Diplocaulus and Beelzebufo, they're found in swamps but unlike most swamp inhabitants isn't very aggressive, nor is it a fast chasing creature, the Mastodonsaurus will only attack when you get very close or if you attack it but be warned if you do because while the Mastodonsaurus might be small it sure isn't easy to take down, a thick slippery hide along with a very muscular body cause the Mastodonsaurus to not take any damage from things like fire, poison nor can it bleed out due to the thick slime the Mastodonsaurus produces instantly closing the wound, besides this the Mastodonsaurus can not be knocked out or grabbed by anything making it a hard beast to domesticate.

Taming:

A small tribe that lives at the green obelisk managed to tame one of these beasts by feeding it manually, however due to its aggression a simple feeding method like that of Lystrosaurus won't work, so what they did is they fed it by dropping dead frogs in front of it, Mastodonsaurus' seem to really like the taste of the Beelzebufo but can never catch them due to their lack of speed and agility therefore they're thankful enough to you if you feed it to the point it will join your tribe after a few tries.

Domesticated:

When tamed the Mastodonsaurus can be used for various things, they're mainly useful for navigating places with a lot of dangerous creatures like Microraptor and Kaprosuchus as their stunning and pouncing abilities will not work on the Mastodonsaurus so riding it is as safe as you can be, some daring survivors have even taken the Mastodonsaurus to sea as it is a good swimmer and protects the rider and itself from Cnidaria, besides protecting their rider they're also very useful for fighting as you don't have to go to far inland to find these beasties they're an easy to get replacement for a Carno or Allosaurus, they also have a trick up their sleeve that even the strongest creatures on the ark could suffer from, the Mastodonsaurus can use its strong jaws in a charged attack to deal massive damage and leave the target both crippled and rapidly losing blood aswell as this the Mastodonsaurus is an excellent bug killer and chitin havester.

Moves:

Left click: a powerful bite that deals 2x damage to insects

Right click: charged bite works the same as the charged bite of the Deinosuchus from the ark additions mod and adds Thyla bleed + broken bones effect

c : leaves a small puddle of slime on the ground if an enemy player or dino walks into this they will be temporarily slowed and flyers will be temporarily grounded

Potential stats:

hp: 1k

stamina: 200

weight: 400

no oxygen stat

melee: 100% = left click bite: 34 right click charged bite: 120

From what I was reading it could work as a scout, but I don't know about it not being aggressive. There is hints of cannibalism which might be interesting. Anyhow, here's my suggestion when it comes to this creature.

Mastodonsaurus - Amphibian
Reaching around thirteen to twenty feet in length or four to six metres, the Mastodonsaurus is one amphibian not to be taken lightly. The choice of food is mainly fish, but there are some things to know before heading anywhere they may be found. Built to  The nature of this predator is aggressive to the point of where there is suspicion of cannibalism towards its own and that means even less to anyone else if they are encroaching on their territory. They are not biased and if hungry enough would go after land-dwelling creatures that are unfortunate to be in their path.

The Mastodonsaurus is able to track it's prey through their sensory organs, they are just as dangerous as today's shark being able to find a victim by their blood.  This helps them detect their target through vibrations in the water and follow their path for as long as they are within range. It also is very patient as it is hostile. Often waiting in the brackish waters of swamps, they lurk until a moment of opportunity arrives to strike.

Owning bigger conical teeth on their upper jaw, smaller on the lower, and even a pair of large tusks at the front of their mouth, this dangerous beast can keep smaller critters held captive like a trap. Unfortunately, it is difficult to escape one of these animals once you are within their grasp so be sure that you keep out of reach of their deadly maw. The longer one is held between their teeth, the more slowed their quarry would be, and it almost feels as if they are being crushed.

If one is able to stay out of the way in water, ranged weapons are suggested as well as riding on  a creature larger than the Mastodonsaurus for they would be able to tear a rider off of a smaller mount. Reaching an area where there is ground as it is one of the better strategies to avoid conflict with them. Considering this creature has shorter legs, one may not have trouble fighting it on land as it is not as suited for such. However, a wise person would stay away from the Mastodonsaurus in water where it is most comfortable. As it is much quicker in the water because of having a thick tail and fleshy fin, it can almost keep up with the speedy
Ichthyosaurus with a rapid dash as an attempt to catch up to anything trying to get away.

Regardless of the threat they can be, the Mastondonsaurus would make an incredible ally once tamed, but keep them away from any offspring that is wanting to be kept.
