When you upload your character at an obelisk the implant stays with the character, so when you download the character to a different map they still have their implant and they still have all of the engrams you've unlocked on previous maps. This is correct.....you get ready to end your run in the map your in, go to the oblisk and "upload your survivor". The game will then go to the begining page where you are offered to start a new character, but you can now exit the map to the menu, choose a new map, then start the next map. Here you can either download a survivor with the implants you have earned, or you can create a new survivor. You will want to download the character you uploaded, select a spawn location, and there you go. Just as a word of warning, its actually a good idea to take a mind wipe before you change maps as the next map may have new engrams you will want to unlock to help you deal with that map. You also might find it usefull to spread your stat points according to which map you play.....fjordur and SE you might actually want extra points in fortitude while in aberation and extinction you may want extra points in health.
