GrumpyBear
Pretty clear on this forum - client (means the copy on your machine) is set to v348.3 , while the server (the machine you are connecting to) is set to v348.7. As long as the client version # is lower than the server #, it should connect. Most of the time.... If its an official server that is the wrong version # - you report it to https://ark.gg/outage If it is a private server that is not updated, you have to wait until the owner of that server updates it. Its rare that an official server does not update with the entire network, but it is possible. It happens when a server crashes before the network is pulled down to patch an update. That server then misses the update if it's not controllable by the script running to patch all the servers. I just looked through the list of official servers and found none to be build v348.4. But looking at the unofficial network, many of the servers will be unusable for you until they patch. That is up to the host or owner of that server, Wildcard has no control over third party run servers. Actually, that's not the case. The versioning scheme they use for ARK is: <major>.<minor> And the only version that have to match between clients and servers is the major one. The minor one only increase when they push fixes on either client or server depot and is not uncommon for the client build to be higher just as it is not for the server one to be. But, if a client tries to connect to a server with a different major version then the connection will be rejected for version mismatch. 2 hours ago, GrumpyBear said: If it is a private server that is not updated, you have to wait until the owner of that server updates it. It's actually not uncommon for official servers to have a newer version than what unofficial servers can run. Some times it can take days, or weeks, for unofficial to receive updates when it is only for minor patches and some are not even published at all because they update them again before doing so. Often the case if the update only include changes relevant to the official clustering and whatnot.
GrumpyBear
So then it is also possibe there are mods being run, as well, that could be in the way? I guess it would be better to now ask @ECHOOH, what kind of rejections are you getting from the servers when you can't connect to them?
ECHOOH
when the connection fails, the following prompt will appear:picture 1 or 2 random display. I try uninstalling and reinstalling, the problem still appears. However, versions lower than the client can connect, such as 348.2. All no mods. GrumpyBear
Quote from someone who answered this same question 3 years ago, Try changing your steam name. Ark probably doesn't support that name format. I'm not 100% sure this will fix it, but it did for the person who had the same problem in 2019. https://steamcommunity.com/app/346110/discussions/0/1741104717706315894/ Edited Saturday at 06:34 AM by GrumpyBear
DirkInSA
@ECHOOH can you connect to an unofficial server at release 348.4 or higher that does not have battle eye enforced? Have you tried to re-install battle eye? (I don't think reinstalling the game will also update battle eye - its a separate install). It seems you do not always get the battle eye window - sometimes just a fail to connect crash - which may point to a corrupted battle eye installation. Have you or your ISP changed networking stuff recently? Have you recently installed any new software (like firewalls or anti virus or such) that might interfere with battle eye?
