same answer.  BUt, depending on the angle of view you have to the rider, it's possible to kill them.  You could do it with a longneck rifle if you can aim at their head while they fly upwards or even use the pike at that moment.

You could keep a bola on hand, use that on the bird when it's high enough and you could possibly kill the bird as well as the rider, keep parachutes on hand to land yourself.  Pteras have really low health.  Bola'ed they should take fall damage if the rider is still mounted when it hits the ground.

Do whips still knock other players off their tames?  THey used to, I dont 'know about now - but that was a hell of a way to take the rider out with you as you fell.

Idem with Net..

Low level Ptera can be put to sleep with good Narcotic longnek rifle, but the rider can to see Ptera's torpor and release you, but if you have a grappling hook...you can to try

They do? Oh. That's really interesting. You could probably easily kill the ptera with an okay sword or pike, and then parachute away to safety as you (possibly) snipe the rider with your longneck. Or the rider dies from fall damage. Bolas are probably the best way to deal with a ptera.

Also, all you PvPers-what do you do if an Argy picks you up? Do you just...die?
