Scorched Earth Glitch

I play on a personal server with a friend. We are going map to map in story order (The Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, Genesis Part 2) and just got onto Scorched Earth. We built our adobe base and tamed a couple things then got off. When we started the server back up our entire base was gone (including all of our tames) and we were dead. We ran back to our base and all of our storage/crafting structures had bags but our bags and our tames bags were gone. We assumed it was a one off glitch as our items were still there but our structures were gone so we built a different base in a different spot out of stone this time to be safe. When we got back on this base had also disappeared and just like before we were dead and every structure was gone but the bags from our structures were just sitting there. We played through all of Island without a single problem and we have no idea how to fix this. If anyone has any idea on what's happening or how to stop it from happening any advice would be extremely appreciated.
