The royal family held a terrible and secret power that solidified their claims over Aeron and so they ruled for thousands of years. Until the fateful day when darkness spread across the land, a corruption that grabbed ahold of the royal family’s power and spread throughout. Prince Theon decided that he needed more, greedy and selfish as ever he began killing off the family, absorbing their powers one by one. The Queen had her daughter, Princess Arayi sent away, absolving her of title and name in the process. Theon turned slowly into a dark corrupted sorcerer. For many years, he oppressed the once great Houses that used to support him so selflessly. Until the day when Arayi, finally realizing who she was and what she was capable of, faced him. It was a battle of battles and Princess Arayi, with her final breath, was able to seal away the magic from Prince Theon’s weakened form into a glowing metal prison. The artifact then fragmented, shooting magic out in different directions as it split away. The splinters of this magical artifact were all that remained. For years, the Houses would send out adventurers to find these pieces, displaying them as a symbol of their power, hoping to get enough to take over the lands as the next Royal family.
