And this is why you don't vote for a creature because of its concept, non-official abilities. Good job everyone! Coulda had carcharo or livyatan, but we got a Thyla with extra abilities.

It would be great fan service to add Carcharo as the third and final lost island creature, especially coming in as a photo finish 2nd place. Seeing how creative they were with the Amarga and monkey ab

Absolutel trash. It dosent surprise me the Ark community would vote for the dumbest dino on the list.

Yeah, this needs to end. WC has said nothing regarding the CharChar getting in or not, hence no proof that in either way. PvE is very much get tek and progress. I only play PvE and with boosted stats, and I want tek for one main reason: Convienience. I would assume that’s what most other PvE players want it for too. Bosses are integral to progressing, and tek is a beneficial side effect to beating bosses.

I was one of the Dinopithecus voters and I totaly agree that Carcharodontosaurus should be the 3º chosen dino for the Lost Island, after all he almost win the votes and every one loves him, the number of dinos that ware not add to the game are running short so I say, make dossier for the Carcharodontosaurus and when the next new dlc comes we can discuse of new votes of new 3 creatures

whyd this gross little ape win? its just gonna be another useless monkey like the gigantopith and mesopith

 anything but a useless monkey

"It DiSaBleS TeK" SO DOES THE ARTHRO AND THE MEK AND THE TITANS AND THE MAGMASAUR AND THE TITANOSAUR AND THE VOIDWYRM WE DONT NEED ANOTHER ONE.

Those destroy tek, not disable it.

Titanosaur can't destroy tek.

If you look at the dossier, it functions nothing like the other monkeys.

Personally I'm of the opinion that WC shouldn't have carchara as the third dino. It sets a bad precedent by giving the player base the affirmation that if a vote is close enough and they whine and stamp their feet hard enough they'll eventually get their way. In addition to that it would really cheapen the entire point of a vote if the runnerup still managed to achieve the same victory as the winner.

um, The Arthro disables armor and Melee weapons... Not Tek In general. Titans don't have abilities that shut down Tek, Just The Player and Corrupted creatures (the latter are Element based not Tek based). The Mek Is Tek, and has no abilities to disarm it. The Magmasaur is just a very hot lizard, and has no abilities that disable Tek (it CAN destroy it though). Titanosaurus has No means of doing anything to Tek, but you can arm it with things to destroy it. and The Voidwyrm can just Damage Tek.

The Dino on the othe hand works more like an EMP, shuting down Tek without destroying it and giving it's allies a chance to get in some free hits.

Exactly, WC isn't going to add charchara just because "it came in second by 1%", nor by popular demand. Because at that point what would be the point of even having a vote in the first place?

Dude, it's basically a jack of all trades mount. It's an omnivore so it probably gathers meat and berries like a bear, it's a climber so you can go virtually anywhere short of the sea until we figure out its swimming apititude, its ability to lob grenades on land rather than trying to do strafing runs with a trope or 'delphis is debatably more convenient than trying to line up aim in an aerial dog fight with a loud and obvious mount, and its tek disabilibg is likely a one shot and done deal with a timer rather than a protracted attack like the other creatures have to do when they DAMAGE/DESTROY (not disable, damage/destroy) tek which makes it convient to combo with those other creatures. It's arguably more useful than it's primary competition was.

Giga: I've had a giga die before it raged once, pretty sure they removed the feature entirely

It's not removed. But it takes A LOT of damage at once to enrage a giga (and rage form fall damage was removed). Like, 40% kind of a lot, if I recall correctly. Basically, if you got a not-good giga, like 125% at hatch (that's what mine is), and imprint it, and level it all melee, and bite two kentros at once, you'll still get the rage indicator only filled a tiny bit.

Didn't know that actually. My friend used one with 60k health in a purple osd (we didn't know how difficult they were at the time). The giga got destroyed, but it didn't rage, so it must be way more difficult.

I see thousands of dead tames in cryofridges with disabled tek generator by monkey parasites.

Yeah, and WC did make it vague as to weather or not these monkeys could even use TEK grenades. If they can, then bye bye Mega Tribes.

No mega tribes seems like a good thing though? No one tribe controlling a server. Maybe more peeps would play on official servers if they actually stood a chance instead of being forced of the server by a mega tribe.

Only way that will happen is if Baboons spawn on all maps or if official servers allowed transfers.

But you’re right, less Mega tribes would be nice. Still have the cancer on PvE officials though.

Normally, you’d be correct. But the whole idea behind Lost Island and 3 new creatures is community service, a send off as they move away to development of ARK 2. Ever since they announced the vote I’ve had the suspicion that they’d add both the #1 and #2 submissions. I mean what if the creature we voted in was actually somehow their choice for the third? Unlikely, but possible. And that way both parties are pleased with what we got as the game transitions to its completed service state.

I guess we will find out soon enough.

Well they do allow transfers eventually, all it would take is playing on the new map for a couple of months, breeding said Baboons then transferring them over to other maps once allowed.

As for toxicity on PvE servers, that's a whole different story. Ironically enough though, they probably could have avoided most of that if they had made PvP and PvE two separate game modes with different changes for each, instead of changing both.

It's one thing if it just so happens that one of the top contestants was already slated for game entry, however if that isn't the case then I'm still sticking with the idea that they shouldn't add the runner up just because it makes the other group happy. Giving consessions in voting never results in just happy individuals, it plants the seed of an idea in the voter's mind. Whether they consciously acknowledge it or not they realize they can basically brute force their way into their desired result by raising a big enough stink. It's positive reinforcement of undesirable behavior, not unlike giving a candy bar to an unruly child at the grocery store.

Not only that but it becomes a bit of a slippery slope. They added carchara; why not increase the dino number to include sinomacrops? Why not gorgonops after that? Ceratasaurus? Etc. etc. A far fetched idea sure given those votes weren't nearly as close but there are people that genuinely suggested adding all of the top ten.  Just my two cents on the matter.

Presumably they got cracking on the beginnings of dossiers and abilities for all ten contestants and further developed the ones that were gaining the most traction. Would make sense given how quickly dinopithecus' got pumped out. I'd be surprised if they didn't have nine more dossiers waiting to be added to a collector's addition book to show dinos that didn't make it into the game.

Time is not at all on the side of the smaller tribes/solo players. Those months can be the difference between an effective antitek tame and more meat for the grinder. I can all but guarantee that unless waylaid by constant fullscale raid attempts in a few months any mega tribe will have taken every precaution allowed to to keep their shinies safe and operational. Official PvE is just a lost cause entirely unless the overwhelming majority of its toxic users collectively remove their heads from that sweet spot between their sigmoid colon and  their back passage.

Fair point. And again, fair point. PvE sometimes seems to just bring out the worst in people, it's worse when you can *PvP* on a PvE server when your not allowed to, the two examples I know of are, kiting corrupted dinos to other peeps base's, and drowning offline peeps to take their stuff. There are probably others that I'm either forgetting or just don't know.

I highly doubt that.
First of all, you will very likely have to hit something with poop directly, if you can even reach it inside their base.
then you have to consider, that larger tribes always have backup generators and Cryofrdiges can be powered by normal generators. Even if you disable the Generator and the fridge, a Cryopod still lasts a few Weeks. it´s not stated yet, that it would affect the cryopods itself but if it does, i guess, its just not working for a short time.
I also highly doubt, that it´s disabling Tek forever but only for a short period of time.
