Replacing the Manta with two new separate Dinos, Aquilolamna and Anomalocaris

DILONG

We all know mantas as the annoying and kinda ugly shallow water hunter that harasses those who dare enter into the water, I’ve had an idea for a while about splitting the manta up into two separate real “dinos” that have split and enhanced functions that the manta previously had.

First is Aquilolamna, a recently discovered manta like shark with large wing like fins and could possibly grow up to 15 feet or more. This specific creature would replace the movement abilities of the manta by acting as a fast sea mount that is slow to dive and that can leap out of the water, what makes it different is that it’s a passive and harmless animal with a tail whip attack that will stun predators so that it can easily escape similar to the Lymantria. Additionally Aquilolamna will be able to leap out of the water and glide a short distance allowing it to avoid attacks from in the water and making it a very fast mount, as for taming a similar method to the Equus will be employed by riding it and feeding it angler gel or buckets of plankton. Aquilolamna also comes with an optional saddle component that reduces carry weight of items like metal or oil.

Second is Anomalocaris, a Cambrian invertebrate predator with powerful grasping limbs. This animal will encompass the aggressive aspects of the manta, it will gain a pack bonus when in a group making it much more dangerous to encounter in the shallows while being somewhat slower than the manta. Additionally the pack leader will get the ability to grapple players off mounts and deal damage over time similar to the Kaprosuchus, it can also gather large amounts of chitin and silica pearls making it a great early game tame for chitin farming and like the Aquilolamna it can be ridden bareback.

Here are some references for both animals along with articles describing them in more detail. Feel free throw around more suggestions in the comments section or find ways to improve my description, I hope you enjoy.
