Bear Trap Question

how long will a bear trap and large bear trap hold a wild dino? im wondering if i can use them to tame rexs and spinos, at least for the large ones, and probably raptors and such with the small ones.

I typed "ark bear trap" into google. First result was the ark wiki, it stated 800 seconds for both "bear trap" & "large bear trap".

They dont work well on dinos, those times are on players, the larger the Dino the less time it will be held.

The large traps hold wild Gigas for 10 seconds exactly. So anything smaller would be held longer.

i was able to test it on a spino but forgot to time it, but it was around 20-30 secs and then i got killed lol

it lasts the full 800s on tamed dinos a tame trex will be trapped for 800s. i use them alot there bad on wild dinos but they are a must have in a raid as a small tribe can remove a bigger tribes 120 trex for a full 800s and demount the rider for the 800s. small bear traps are good too

i was talking about knight and actually no i didnt get a real answer because i didnt actually time it so my 20-30 sec post before was just a guess at how long it took before it broke free and killed me

But you were told it depended on the Dino. Did you specify which wild Dino in your post?

I did. You were told 800 seconds and then corrected because those are tamed Dino's. Then @Sandz87 told you it depended on the wild Dino's size and @Rancor said a giga is held for 10 seconds. So unless you would like someone to tell you time for every single Dino's then your question was answered to the best of these guys ability.

the two dinos i specified in the post were the rex and the spino not the giga, and i didnt get an answer, the giga is ridiculously OP anyway so i figured it wouldnt hold it at all to be honest. so i did specify which dinos i was looking for.

They don't hold long but long enough to get behind and seal in a trap

I would suggest building a large trap, finding a rex and or spino, placing said trap, then luring it into trap, then taking a time keeping device and time it. That will give you your answer.

was kinda hoping someone already tested it out long ago and would be nice enough to post it, but yeah that would probably be the quickest way as long as i dont forget to time it
