DeHammer
We run a private dedicated / hosted Ark server with Host Havoc. When Genesis 2 released, we loaded it up immediately, moved everything over, played on it fine for days. No problems. Then it became apparent to Host Havoc that the map was sucking memory. Many of their customers are running 8GB Ark servers. Now they require 16GB to run Genesis 2 map. But they didn't let us know so we could decide to move to a different map. Nope. They simply restricted the 8GB servers from running Genesis 2, so we can't even get our stuff off the Genesis 2 map to move back to another server. It's like checking into a hotel room for the night, then when you go to check out the next morning they tell you the room rate doubled overnight. Which I believe is also illegal in most places. Ark developers and their hosting services dropped the ball big time. A lot of these issues aren't ultimately technical. It's about lack of foresight & $$$ wanted to provide the actual technical needs in terms of server performance. Wildcard made a nice map that no one can easily run, including themselves, and now private hosting companies are wanting twice as much to run the map. Case in point... https://hosthavoc.com/game-servers/ark-survival-evolved The game isn't crashing for us. It's being shut down on purpose every time we run it, because the map uses too much memory. Being treated this way isn't sitting well for our group, so I think our group has decided simply to walk away from the game.
