Rest2020
Say i capture and tame a couple of animals (a herbivore and a carnivore), and i set them to no-follow and neutral. - will they die of starvation if i don't feed them? (and if i must feed them, how often)
Coastis
Yes you will need to feed them, though not too often if they're just chilling and not getting into fights. The easiest way is to build a feeding trough and put a few stacks of berries and meat in.
AdligerAdler
Yes you will have to. Look at how full their hunger/food icon is. If it's empty, they will keep losing health and eventually die. You won't have to feed your tames if you put them in cryo pods (just have to keep electricity running).
Dreadcthulhu
Also make sure you have the right food for each animal - some only eat fish meat, like the baryonyx, or eat berries despite looking like a predator (therizino). And as others mentioned, troughs are a big help; they have an option to show what area they cover if you wish.
bart430
If you get a cryofridge, you can put them in cryopods and not feed them.

I have heard a tiny bit about cryopods but i think they need electricity and for now i want to stay primitive. but thanks for the suggestion. You can put a lot of different things into the trough, and the animals will eat their foods from there "IF" it is in there. Make sure to check the trough from time to time to ensure it has the foods they need. If their food they eat is missing, they will begin to starve. GrumpyBear
they all starve at different rates, no way to say specifically when they will starve. as a general rule, the lower the level, the less food % they have - the faster they will starve. Then you have certain animals that just starve real fast, otters, gigas come to mind. Some animals starve so slowly you can avoid feeding for months.
