LucidLethargy Posted April 20, 2021 Author Share Posted April 20, 2021 For those interested, we started on Ragnarok (still the most popular map by far), then added Aberration, then added Extinction, and just a few days ago we added Genesis. There will be more maps to come, the next one in line is the community map where we will hold events and allow people to fight bosses that are currently not accessible (e.g. Broodmother). LucidLethargy Posted April 22, 2021 Author Share Posted April 22, 2021 The server has four maps currently (Ragnarok, Aberration, Extinction, and Genesis Part 1), but we will be adding a brand new events map by the end of this week! This map will be where players can battle the Broodmother, and other unique creatures and content that are not featured currently on the cluster. This will also house our Trading area (powered by a mod that will automate selling and buying between players), and our cryo bank (work in progress, dino storage only). We are currently deciding between two different trade mods, and whether or not either one will provide a positive enhancement for the server without changing the structure of the game (the goal is to simply allow safe, no-contact trades between tribes if that's desired.) It's a nice change to play Ark without the obnoxious music we've all heard too many times! Turn that nonsense off, and crank up Discord. We're usually in the "Pub" channel, where chatter and music both exist. This is a nice thing to mention here, as I enjoy the experience quite a lot as a daily player (as do 5-6 other regulars that join us in these channels regularly). We continue to have an awesome community of regulars, but I'd like to see more people joining. As such, I am beginning work on a website and a marketing plan to get our name out there. This will take time, however, so anyone that gets the chance to join now will find less competition, and some great base locations. A new server has been on order for a half a year as well (chip shortage has been rough...) The new server will be capable of a very high capacity when it comes to concurrent players being connected, so we will be able to expand out quite a lot more when a processor finally becomes available (which may be very soon, the gougers are only charging ~20% more right now than MSRP.) LucidLethargy Posted May 12, 2021 Author Share Posted May 12, 2021 This weekend we will have our very first "meteor event", in which meteors will fall from the sky and imbue dinosaurs with special colors and stats. Nothing OP, just colorful and very high level! There will likely be PVP around these events, since their locations are announced to the server when they fall. If the tame is killed, there's a chance of recovering a mystery soul trap, which can be used to randomly generate a high level creature! It also might be allowed to continue indefinitely at low rates, with higher rates on special weekends. This will be up to the community, and how much everyone loves or hates the new mechanics! LucidLethargy Posted May 16, 2021 Author Share Posted May 16, 2021 There's a few hours left in the Exiles of Aaru event, but the game mechanic will continue (at a much lower spawn rate) indefinitely on Ragnarok! This is now a server feature, with special weekends bringing new challenges, new loot, and special creature drops (soul traps) like Phoenix's that won't be available normally. We've kept things a little smaller so far, but we will be expanding as the new box will be capable of very large populations on each map (80+, potentially). No major updates right now, but activity is great - PVP and raids are happening, but overall nobody is rage quitting which is the whole goal of this server.
