There's lots of different speculations on taming them: 1) It appears that not all X Golems are tameable. It is possible that it depends on where in the Volcano it spawns, or there could be 2 variants of the X golem and we can't tell them apart. 2) Being inside the Volcano or Mission area may prevent you from taming them. For the best chance of taming one, use a hover skiff to drag it to the corner of the map and knock it out there.
