  • Light turret: uses APR rounds, Able to Place Upside or sideways, does less damage and range, but good for indoor bases Defence
  • Flak turret: Uses grenades and fires Explosive rounds (does 5xs more damage to flyers) But has a Slow fire rate, Take up more slots then normal turret (2) and it will Auto lock on Air targets over ground targets.
  • Auto Artillery: Needs rockets to work, takes up alot of space and needs a Wide open area to work. makes a ring that you can enable or disable to show you range, It will aim and fire on a Large target that comes near, and it will fly in the air and land, it will tell the person who is being shot at "You are being targeted by Artillery (Name)" Will ONLY work for large targets or Large amounts. Does little damage to buildings but does Full damage to Platform saddles building parts, AND it has the same Place value as a tek shield but Even more. So its hard to make turret towers with them.

Basically add all the building parts from Atlas, All shapes and Parts and some defenses like Behemoth walls . and add some extra things for ark

  • Small pillars (wood, adobe, stone, metal, tek)
    • To improve/increase pillar options...
      • 1/2 wall Pillar
      • Standard Pillar (1 wall high - current pillar)
      • Short Pillar (2 walls high)
      • Medium Pillar (2 walls high)
      • Tall Pillar (3 walls high)
  • Wide Gates: (stone, adobe, metal tek)
    • To improve/increase gate options... (width by height)
      • Small Gate: 2x2
      • Medium Gate: 3x3
      • Large Gate: 4x4
      • Narrow Gate: 2x4
      • Wide Gate: 4x2
  • Heavy wall: (wood, stone, adobe, metal, tek) they are Dino gate size walls that are meant for defence
    • To improve/increase Wall options (so many use gates because are one of the easiest ways to put up and outer wall and these would provide more options. They would snap end to end and would not require foundations for placement)
      • Small Square Wall: 2x2
      • Medium Square Wall: 3x3
      • Large Square Wall: 4x4
      • Short Wall: 1x2
      • Medium Wall: 1x3
      • Tall Wall: 1x4
      • Small Behemoth Wall: 6x6
      • Medium Behemoth Wall: 7x7
      • Tall Behemoth Wall: 8x8
  • Behemoth Hatch (tek)
    • To improve/increase Hatchframe/Door Options:
      • Ceiling Hatchframe: 1x1
      • Small Hatchframe: 2x2
      • Medium Hatchframe: 3x3
      • Large Hatchframe: 4x4
      • Behemoth Hatchframe: 8x8
  • Sloped Behemoth Hatch and Hatch frame: (stone, adobe, metal , tek)
    • To improve/increase Angled Roof Hatchframe/Door Options:
      • Angled Roof Hatchframe: 1x1
      • Angled Roof Small Hatchframe: 2x2
      • Angled Roof Medium Hatchframe: 3x3
      • Angled Roof Large Hatchframe: 4x4
      • Angled Roof Behemoth Hatchframe: 8x8
  • Ground Platform (Wood, stone adobe, tek) they look like Tree platforms but you can place them on the ground
    • To improve/increase Foundation Selections. *In order to be placed the ground must be flat enough for the entire section to place. If it is to low in one or more areas, the option to place a lower foundation to stack the pieces should be a snap location. *As they are foundations and not cliff platforms, they will not snap over the edge of a cliff face.
      • Single Foundation: 1x1
      • Small Foundation: 2x2
      • Medium Foundation: 3x3
      • Large Foundation: 4x4
      • Behemoth Foundation: 8x8
      • Single Round Foundation: Same Size as 6 triangle foundations snapped together.
      • Small Foundation: Same Size as 6 triangle center with 1 round of square/triangle snaps around it.
      • Medium Foundation: Same Size as 6 triangle center with 2 rounds of square/triangle snaps around it.
      • Large Foundation: Same Size as 6 triangle center with 3 rounds of square/triangle snaps around it.
      • Behemoth Foundation: Same Size as 6 triangle center with 7 rounds of square/triangle snaps around it.
  • Sloped Pillar (Large and small): (wood, stone, adobe, metal, tek)
    • Not sure what a sloped pillar is, or would be used for.
  • Double Window frame: (wood, stone, adobe, metal, tek) its like a Large Square meant for a window
    • Seems it could be nice if paired with double sided shutters.
  • Glass parts: its normal glass that is see through but you can paint it to what you want. (same parts like greenhouses)
    • This I would separate into the following forms...
      • Wooden Greenhouse Structures
      • Metal Greenhouse Structures
      • Tek Greenhouse Structures
    • I would then also add the ability to remove barriers between glass pieces.
    • I would then also add the ability to shade the glass to cut glare inside the building
    • I would then also add the ability to set the glass to be one-way viewing in or out.
  • Tek Holo Glass. its like greenhouses glass and normal glass but its as strong as Metal. (can be used underwater and in radiation and same parts as Greenhouses)
    • Personally I would rather go with a Tek greenhouse structure set that follows the same rules as the other greenhouse structures and is set to be as strong as other Tek items.
    • To have something underwater I would prefer the vacuum chamber idea be revisited and adjusted for functional use and that a new building tier be added to better withstand the radiation zone. Something with strengths between metal and Tek.
  • Add Roof Corner Pieces in all building materials
  • Add Roof Valley Pieces in all building materials
  • Add Half Wall Pieces in all building materials
  • Add Half Stair Pieces in all building materials
  • Add Half Doorway/Door Pieces in all building materials
  • Add Half Double Doorway/Door Pieces in all building materials

And onto the next section....

some extra things.

  • Irrigation Pipe: it just waters plants much more then taps (stone and metal)
    • For this I would suggest a re-work of the water access system to closer resemble the system used in Atlas. Using their underground water pipe a player can drag water to a new location from a great distance in order to supply their base with water. In Ark, you are restricted to the use and laying of water pipes or if you are lucky enough to find a water source point.
    • I understand why, but at the same time it is somewhat restrictive and asking for an increase in item placement across the map for access.
    • Which is why I think the underground water pipe system is a nice alternative. How it would work and interact with other player structures would need to be worked out, but beyond creating an Water Tower that can pull water from anywhere, I think it is a nice alternative.
  • Water tank: Holds about 3000 water and looks like a Giant water tank
    • To keep up with progression, if this one is significantly larger than the previous, and inbetween option may be needed as well. I can't recall what the basic tank holds...
  • Sink (stone, metal and tek) it looks like a Nice deco item that makes you're pipes not Float in you're bases. can fill up to 20 water jars or whatever you want.
    • It would be nice to see household features such as Sinks, Bathtubs, and/or counters. Usable as water connection options, tabletop storage, etc.
  • Fuse box: Able to turn on or off a set item powered by a generator without turning off the gen. (want to turn off you're Acs? uses the Fuse box)
    • Honestly I think all items should simply have the option to be powered down individually along with the option to connect them to a switch so you could turn off a group of items all at once. We have a keypad in game that could work well enough.
  • Ceiling light: a Light you can.... place on a ceiling.
    • Additional lighting for ceiling, tabletop, wall sconce, torch, etc.
    • Ability to craft a day/night sensor for lights within a radius.
  • Rope bridge: its like a base game tek bridge but more limited.
    • To this I would list as: Bridge Types:
      • Wooden Bridge Sections
        • Resemble Ceilings with additional support and higher crafting cost.
        • Can connect railings, cannot have other structures placed on them, only items.
        • Can place up to 4 of them before another foundation support is required. This can be reached by connection to a foundation piece connected to land or pillars extended down from under the last Bridge Selection Piece.
      • Stone Bridge Selection
        • Resemble Ceilings with additional support and higher crafting cost.
        • Can connect railings, cannot have other structures placed on them, only items.
        • Can place up to 6 of them before another foundation support is required. This can be reached by connection to a foundation piece connected to land or pillars extended down from under the last Bridge Selection Piece.
      • Metal Bridge Selection
        • Resemble Ceilings with additional support and higher crafting cost.
        • Can connect railings, cannot have other structures placed on them, only items.
        • Can place up to 8 of them before another foundation support is required. This can be reached by connection to a foundation piece connected to land or pillars extended down from under the last Bridge Selection Piece.
      • Tek Bridge Selection
        • Resemble Ceilings with additional support and higher crafting cost.
        • Can connect railings, cannot have other structures placed on them, only items.
        • Can place up to 10 of them before another foundation support is required. This can be reached by connection to a foundation piece connected to land or pillars extended down from under the last Bridge Selection Piece.
  • Tek storage: Its as big as a fridge but holds more then 600 items. also acts as a Fridge.
    • This I would break down as listed on the post I put in for some Tek Tier items.
      • Tek Fridge. 300 line Items. Decreased Resource Spoiling
      • Tek Freezer. 300 line Items. Dramatically Decreased Resource Spoiling. Freezes items requiring time to thaw them before use.
      • Tek Storage. 300 line Items. 1/2 the size of vaults. Can be snapped together to increase line items.
      • Tek Filing Cabinet. 350 blueprint storage. Can be snapped to crafting tables for crafting access without losing line items in the crafting tables.
  • Tek Hydroponic: its a Better version of the tek crop plot. rather then growing one plant it can grow up to 12 at the same time! can get a 1200 greenhouses boost and can grow extra X seeds that are special.
    • Garden Plots of all types need a rework.
      • Wooden Plot
        • Small, Medium, Large
        • Snappable to ceilings/foundations
        • Irrigation Pipes can be snapped to placed plots.
      • Stone Plots
        • Small, Medium, Large
        • Snappable to ceilings/foundations
        • Irrigation Pipes can be snapped to placed plots.
      • Metal Plots
        • Small, Medium, Large
        • Snappable to ceilings/foundations
        • Irrigation Pipes can be snapped to placed plots.
      • Tek Plots
        • Small, Medium, Large
        • Snappable to ceilings/foundations
        • Irrigation Pipes can be snapped to placed plots.

Building changes:

Many of the building parts we have would have a slightly need model

Thatch: The Wall, Door and foundation look more like stick buildings, Like sticks wrapped with Twin and thatch. while the roof and sloped roof are just made of thatch.

Wood: the Outside of the wooden walls have thick logs acting as the whole protection. while the inside is a more like a crude lumber, the foundation looks the same but the floor has crude wood planks, the ceiling is the same, Sloped triangle Ceilings no longer have these holes that shine light in there, its just Pure wood. Pillars look like Thick logs with rope and more sticks wrapped on it.

Stone: looks the same but the stone looks heavy and the inside Has more wood parts holding the stone. the ceiling and foundation top has a smooth stone look, doors and gates look the same

Adobe is the same

Metal: Whole new change. the metal walls have 9 plates on each one that hold the metal wall together, and depending on the type of part you have, it will change it (like windows would have just one plate missing. doors look more heavy, roofs have more Smooth plates on the top while having plates and rivets on the bottom, sloped roofs are the same. the foundation is just Solid Metal with metal bolts in a even place. the rest are the same but have better looks.

Tek is the same

Yes. just.... yes

Why didn't you post this suggestion? lol

I am going to redownload Atlas so i can go over Every Building part. ITS my one dream in ark is to have the building parts from Atlas into ark. I think this would make the Game SO much better sense you are near limitless in what you can build!

I haven't posted it directly as there are many Building posts out there. Some of which I have probably noted in a similar fashion. Increasing options and fixing the building methods in Ark is by far one of my favorite discussion pieces.

And having been an Atlas Grid Admin and Ark Cluster Admin for now both Steam and Xbox crossplay servers - I tend to take note of the similarities and differences between the two.

There are some ways the each are the best at what the do, some things they could benefit from taking things on from the other, and others that could be made better for both given a little tweaking.

For example:

  • I far prefer the building method in Atlas where you can craft a stack of items and then flip through those items to find the piece you wish to place. It limits the number of types of items you have to craft to build and cuts down on the number of engrams/blueprints needed as a result. It makes for a far easier crafting menu to navigate.
  • I also prefer how Atlas allows you to visibly flip through the snap points and tally how many you have. Ark does to a point, but in my opinion it is not nearly as neat.
  • I also prefer how Atlas has some items that Ark is just missing such as the Roof Corners, Roof Valley, Half-size wall, etc... Simple pieces that can expand the building options in may ways and also allow for the cutting back of using extra pieces to try and make such items appear to work in the game as is.
  • Atlas has a better "Castle Stone" appearance with their stone building items. Ark's Wood structures are more fitting to the term while Atlas has what resembles and early game plaster building.
  • Atlas has Stacking Foundations, a feature missing from Ark. It could have been added during the Homestead update but the bypassed it for....  not sure why.
  • Atlas has Cliff Platforms that actually have snap point to build from, on Ark you have to create your own.
  • Ark added Ocean Platforms - even though it is far more a land based game. A fact that rings true as they have so little to do in the oceans and have very few boat/ship building options.
  • Atlas also has more gate size options that allow for additional building functionality
  • Atlas has a behemoth wall that is functional - though large. If the idea was utilized further and expanded, both games could benefit.

On the other side of things however, there are also items they have both failed to utilize;

  • Atlas lost out from utilizing the different wood/stone types to create a variety of Building Tiers unique to material types.
  • Ark has skimped on adding Building Tiers. Every map that is paid for should have had a unique building tier added that either utilized new resources found on the map to create it or merely as engrams you could learn on the map to further incentivize the travel between the maps. Instead the stopped with Scorched Earth and the Adobe Tier.
  • Both games have semi-functional beds, tables, and chairs for decoration items - however they both are missing out on anything further.
  • Ark did great with the addition of the Primitive Plus game mode - but failed to continue it or add the building tiers to the main game to benefit from those created

These are truly my own impressions though, I don't expect all to feel the same. And yes, the started out as one and the same and broke away to become the separate games that they are, so chances are minimal that they will work in partnership for the changes.

However, it is entertaining to discuss the chance and possibility of it.
