Typbuerste
So i found a Megatherium Lvl. 59 with red aura. Dododex calculator says you need 21 tranq darts to knock him out at this level, but what the hell, i shot about 50 on him, my gun broke, he still runs like a maniac! DAMN, i'm so mad at this raptorer!!! Are the ones with red aura untameable? EDIT: Ok, so now i used cheats, to see when he goes down, took me another 20 tranq darts. This can't be normal, 70 darts for a lvl 59 "bigger than usual" sloth!! Either that, or the dododex website is complete nonsense
Vit0Corleone
It's because of the massive DR they get when buffed ( that red aura you saw ). Wiki copy pasta: this buff reduces all damage by about 75% (35 damage from a tranq arrow fired from a primitive crossbow is reduced to 8 damage on a wild Megatherium
Typbuerste
Thanks. I searched in the wiki, for the red aura in general and on the megatherium page, but I did'nt found that certain line. And wow, would've never thought that a DR from a buff affects the amount of torp they get. Ridicolous! Well, now i know it.

Not ridiculous, that's how DR works everywhere in the game.

Yeah, no matter where you look or what you tame, topor is based off of the damage....granted, different weapons do different multiplication but if the base damage is reduced, then it will take more shots to finally KO a tame. Something to keep in mind.
