New Year Surprise Event!

It’s been a year! We know -- we already wrapped up (pardon the pun) with our end of year post and event but we’ve opted to throw one more Holiday treat in for our awesome community: A New Year’s Eve mini-event.

At midnight EST on Dec 31st and midday EST Jan 1st, our Official Networks will be bombarded with raining gifts in a hail of fireworks to mark the end of 2020. These gifts will contain a collection of your favourite skins from past events that are currently unavailable and a chibi bonanza! And by bonanza, we mean, the drop rate of Rare, Very Rare and Legendary chibis will be dialled to over 9000!

We greatly appreciate all of your support and enthusiasm and hope this little treat will help mark the bringing in of healthy and happy New Year for us all!

Here are the specifics on the event:

'Happy New Year!' event is now enabled on Official Servers. The event is set to go off at approximately Midnight EST and Noon EST on the 1st of January 2021. Servers running the event will be bombarded with raining gifts in a hail of fireworks to mark the end of 2020. Unofficial Servers can enable the event with the following commandline param: -NewYearEvent

To modify the times, the following commandline parameters can also be used:

?NewYear1UTC=1609477200
?NewYear2UTC=1609497200
You can use https://www.epochconverter.com/ to get your appropriate timestamp. Please keep in mind that this event cannot be run before Midnight EST on the 1st of January 2021, so if you wish to change your time it would have to be set after that. 

Some additional notes:

This event can only be run ONCE on a savefile (with 2 triggers).
If a server is set to run the event at a time already passed, then on load the server will immediately trigger the gifts.
If a custom time isn't set, then the event will run default at Midnight EST on the 1st and again at Noon.

CI 880 is down over 4 hours now. people are sad. this all started when the 2x kicked in.

What about Unofficial and Singleplayer? Will this be automatically enabled on Singleplayer? If not, there isn't really a way to enable it, at least on Console.

I feel your pain.. Genisis is still messing up and crashing every 15 minutes and the raptor claus flys outside the volcano barrier so we cant get him... And just to think I bought a new pc for this crap..

Yup, well it started with going down every hour for like 10 min to get it back up. but now its down hard. it really sucks. they should really improve it. but they will let it bleed to death probz after ark 2 launches

Not only in the UK but all over Europe, since servers have been missing from the Epic Launcher list for a longer time, probably and then we will not be able to enter the servers where the characters are, so the event means nothing to me as a current event.

Raptor Claus is doing more than starting arguments... There's one guy on my server who will swoop in and steal present drops right out from under you even if you were already there waiting. People have been at the edge of war about it

So now WC is planning on crashing every server twice to celebrate the new year? How about getting our servers working. 738 has been crashing constantly since this so called event started, and now you want to greatly INCREASE the lag by having even more players on so even more players can get pissed at you. Great thinking WC!
