c0mical
Hi I would like to put together some hardware for running an Ark cluster of around 10 maps/instances (on windows) I'm not sure whether it would be best to go for the Intel clock speed or the AMD core count Can anyone give me an opinions on this please? Thanks
Larkfields
I went for an Intel because the AMD needs a beefier PSU. Think about your running costs if the the server is going to be up 24/
c0mical
thanks, were you able to find anything out about the relative performance though?
zero064
I'm not sure how many users you're thinking about hosting, but either CPU has the horsepower to run a pretty serious cluster. People have been running large clusters since long before either of those CPUs even existed (and most are probably like mine -- built using leftover parts). Larkfields
Use Google to find comparisons.... eg: i9-9940x vs a9-9420 I chose Intel for the faster per-core performance and lower PSU requirement. The Ark server runs best when you dedicate 1 Core (2 Threads) per map.
