What do you suppose accounts for the shape of this graph

look at the steam chart player count over the last six months, it's like a line for 3months and then it gets all squiggly
-google something like "steam ark player count" and click the right link then above the chart click the 6m to zoom in on that largely downwards trend.. er nvm here is a link:

https://steamcharts.com/app/346110#6m

Perhaps it has something to do with the crippling network instability. Anyways earlier this year they scooped up a whole bunch of new players through the ea thing, and the genesis thing. And it seems like we are back to the baseline of ~50k hard core been here for 5 years players + comers and goers.

Or perhaps it has something to do with what has been happening around the world during the past six months with lockdowns, etc.  Lots of people were off work and school and so had more time to play games.  Now that people are gradually returning to work and school, the numbers playing games (any games) are bound to fall.

Basically if you learn to read charts, when you look at these although it is covering 6 months you will notice (simply hover your mouse over them) that the earlier 3 months show you values on the 1st of the month only, hence the straight line to the next month, and the more recent 3 months shows you daily data, hence the more accurate fluctuations.
