Airyia
Tame for scrap metal farming I'm playing on the island, and doing a hard mode challenge for myself. Starting off and building a base inland in the snow biome. Been quite tough with all the dire wolves, deodon, and yuty running around not to mention the cold to content with. I've come close to losing everything a few times. Anyway since I'm so far away from any reliable metal nodes I got the bright idea to get a few tek parasaur to breed and kill for some scrap metal, but the tames I use gather it at low amounts 3-8 per 10 cluster of eggs. Not really enough to sustain my base needs. I found a good level tek parasaur that ended up with 28 points into health and breed up a few good females for it for speedy egg production. But those babies just don't yield that much scrap for the effort. I've tried a Dire wolf but most of the time it didn't gather anything, I have a low level Argy that does the figures mentioned before. I was wondering is there a better tame for it, something that really gathers it up?
JohnnyWaffles
You are better off using the argy to get metal. If you are in the snow there is metal near you.
Airyia
not high level enough to use the saddle slow leveling rate, I've picked off all the metal around me and respawns slowly. I've gone through at least 10 anky venturing out going to get some. Usually get jumped by something and lose the anky even with dire wolf escort. I set the argy on agressive and he's locked in the pen with the babies.
Piffguru
I think you really should be focusing more on leveling up to use the argy saddle instead of messing around with scrap metal off tek dinos. Get tons of narcoberries and spoiled meat, get an explorer note and craft as many narcotics as you can. Kill any alpha raptors/carnos you see and get yourself to 62 then start farming efficiently. Even without crafting you can get into the 70's with just explorer notes, look up island note run if you need a guide on that.

Udam
well if you want a tame that can get Scrap metal really nicely thery's bite will do great!
Zapha
I played in the snow biome too and there is crazy much metal on the mountains. Especially on the one in the middle. But the metal rocks there are all under snow and hard to spot. If you just fly over it you can't see them. And there are no animals, easy job. DodoRaptor
If you have the resources, which I'm assuming you don't, get a bunch of female tek paras and one male, and leave them on wander in a huge enclosed area. Put in dimetrodons for insulation, and leave them on aggressive. When you check on it, you can collect plenty of scrap metal. At your stage however, I'd say just try to level up fast for the saddle. Farming narcoberries can help you get tons of narcotic.

Oh I did read the thread but I must have missed that part, a surprising amount of people dont know you can carry them with argies. If they can get to level 51 they can make a cryopod and pod the anky and bring it up that way on a ptera with an argy following and load the metal into the argy then and repod and carry the anky back down that way. LF736
Tek breeding, but it's really inefficient by the time you can tame OR breed enough females / male to get 10 or 20 babies to kill for scrap metal you could've levelled normally, tamed an argie and ankylo and went mining to get 30k metal. Id go with the level up strategy first to get the saddles, then use a argy and maybe an anky to help bump up the metal amount. There are a bunch of places to get metal on the mountains, however my favorite run is around 10,10 by the skylord artifact. You got to be really carefull as the ground textures and collision is way off, but if you work that cliff face on the edge of the ocean south, you can get a good sized amount of metal quickly. Honestly the only way to really get around in the snow biome safely is by flying around on "SOMETHING"
Airyia
Sounds like I should just work on leveling then, shame. I was hoping this was a good method. The electronic I get from it is nice though so I guess I won't abandon this method completely. Farming silica pearls is worse.

All u need is to tame a dolphin and have a scuba tank then just swim to the underwater resources caves, they have plenty of pearls, some even have oil rocks and crystal too. Airyia
I know but the main reason I need pearls is for electronic, I know of a crop of them not to far from where Im located. I've also been testing with this and was able to tame another argy and breed and imprinted it. The yields are better. I'm up to 10-
Zapha
Pearls in masses are easy to get in the ice bay in the north-west. They are in the flat water along the bank. Fins help for faster collecting but are not necessary.

And you get some element dust as a by-product. Anybody tried to chainsaw tek creatures? If yes: what resource you get the most out of it?

Try to get good BP and u good to go Drops Oil, Scrap metal, Dust, Electronics When i had my para farm i did farm a lot in that way... Might not be the best way but worked at very start on Ab

I will say that I use 1 male and about 10 female tek paras and I get a sufficient amount of resources for just one person. It is a lot easier then me freezing to death getting metal, oil, obsidian, and pearls. Plus breeding tek dinos to harvest the babies gives element dust. Ya I know it's not a ton but it adds up when you have them breeding constantly.
St1ckyBandit
Just do a note run. Plenty of guides on YT. You can hit level 70 in like 10 mins. It's stupid the amount of metal a solo player can yield in a single ankentavis run. I get that youre a new player and we all were there once, but breeding tek animals for metal is hilariously inefficient. It'll take days to breed what you can do in like a half hour with an arglyo. And somewhere in there will be moschops, depending on how many levels you have put on the moschops harvesting. Basically, you use the meat harvesting chart from Dododex or the wiki, and then you mentally substitute scrap metal for meat and (I think) you substitute electronics for hide. Any animal that's good a harvesting meat will be good at harvesting scrap metal, which means that wolves and sabers are also good for it, if you don't have a giga or rex, but considering where you're living it should be fairly easy to build a taming trap for a rex and then use a wolf to lure it into your trap.
