crossmr
Tons of errors on first opening dev kit Is the terminal window supposed to be nothing more than a stream of non-stop errors about not finding things? I installed the 300 gb worth of stuff, opened it up, let it "discover assets" and then tried to open "theisland" map per the intro guide. While the editor is locked up for about 15 minutes now, the terminal is just an unending stream of this kind of stuff: "[2020.07.26-12.42.19:800][ 54]LoadErrors:Error: Error Failed import for StaticMeshComponent [2020.07.26-12.42.19:802][ 54]LoadErrors:Error: Error Failed import for StaticMeshComponent [2020.07.26-12.42.19:803][ 54]LoadErrors:Error: Error Failed import for StaticMeshComponent [2020.07.26-12.42.19:803][ 54]LoadErrors:Error: Error Failed import for StaticMeshComponent [2020.07.26-12.42.19:804][ 54]LoadErrors:Error: Error Failed import for StaticMeshComponent [2020.07.26-12.42.27:968][ 54]LogLinker:Warning: Can't find file '/Game/PrimalEarth/Human/Male/Base/Textures/Human_Male_FPV_D' [2020.07.26-12.42.27:969][ 54]LoadErrors: Info Failed to load /Game/PrimalEarth/Human/Male/Base/Textures/Human_Male_FPV_D.Human_Male_FPV_D Referenced by Human_Male_FPV_Colorized_BASEMIC Property /Script/Engine.MaterialInstance:TextureParameterValue.ParameterValue" this doesn't quite seem right. Volunteer Moderator invincibleqc Posted July 27, 2020 Volunteer Moderator Share Posted July 27, 2020 This is just logging and debugging information. The first time you open anything in the devkit it will takes a while depending of your specs.
crossmr
I was around 25 minutes in before I gave up, the memory usage rose from about 3 gb when I first tried to open the level to over 9 gb when I finally gave up (I have 32 gb). And the logging was full of "can't find file, can't find this reference, can't load" etc. all while the editor remained locked up (and occasionally froze up my machine). How long should I expect that to take to open? I've got 32 gb of ram and an i5 9600k overclocked to 4.3ghz.

The first time you open anything it will compiles and cache stuff so the next time you open them it shouldn't take long. I'd say just open everything before going to bed and it should be done in the morning.
crossmr
Okay, I'll give that a shot tonight and if it still doesn't work I'll report back. The first time I tried to open a dino BP and it also locked up for several minutes before I gave up on that. I didn't think a dino BP should really be something that would cause it to need to load a bunch of stuff.
