Paladynne
LinuxGSM - Can't Connect to Server, Out of Ideas I've already done a lot of Googling and I don't know what the issue is. I'm using https://linuxgsm.com on a spare computer running Ubuntu Server. I've already used LinuxGSM to get a Factorio server and Minecraft Bedrock server installed and running. Both are running, my friends can connect to both of those just fine. However, my friends and I cannot connect to the LinuxGSM ARK server. Here's some screenshots: ./arkserver details https://i.imgur.com/is6djYy.png Router port forwarding https://i.imgur.com/t8VBD4H.png netstat https://i.imgur.com/4PKUUP4.png arkserver.cfg https://i.imgur.com/G3pDXMJ.png Trying to connect: https://i.imgur.com/GDy2rt9.png No, I'm not trying to use steam://connect/192.168.1.28:7777 to connect to my server. I'm using the public internet IP. The server is allegedly running, I have all of the required ports opened. But I can't connect to it. I know the ports are forwarded correctly, because I did the same process for my Factorio and Minecraft Bedrock servers and those are still working. Factorio is using ports 34197 and 34198 while Minecraft Bedrock is using ports 19132 and 19133. There is no overlap as far as I'm aware. arkserver-console.log shows this: [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; SteamAPI_IsSteamRunning() failed. Normally something glaring would pop out at me, but this is day two and I still have no idea why I can't connect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Larkfields
Your port-forwarding on 7777 needs to be changed... You need to forward port numbers 7777 and 7778, but it looks like you've mixed the two numbers instead. Where you specify port 7777 in the config, Ark also uses the next port up. Larkfields
Have you installed the Steam client on your server (you don't need to). If you have, then you'll find that Steam "reserves" some ports for its own use...https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711 You can't use any ports numbers specified on that site if you're also running the Steam client. I don't have the Steam client on my Linux server OS, no. I also shared this image in the original thread, which shows that there are no conflicting ports:
velvaretta
Well this is usually a problem with port forwarding, i've been there too, unable to connect, but once i setup correct port forwarding, all good
