All fully discovered maps reset to default

 

Hello,

does anyone else have this issue? People lost all their Tek Engrams but I also lost all my discovered maps (on every map). 

It's like I have never been there before while I have discovered every corner on most maps....

Have you moved or reinstalled ark installation. Map discovery is stored on local profile on your computer.

if you backup your saved folder regularly you can restore your local profile and get back your map data, map pins, learned emotes, and skins.

the file gets currupted sometimes during ark Patch installs, has happened to me several times.  Though, even though its happened multiple times they'll say 'this isn't possible'.  another common thing to get screwed up by the patches in your configuration,  video settings / keyboard bindings getting reset to default being common with the patches.

@Luewenno, it just vanished one day. I haven't changed anything.

@caleb68DILO, that's stupid as f***. This game really seems to try it's hardest to scare away it's playerbase with every stupid little new thing. 

I'll make up a backup the next time I have something on the maps again.... thanks for the help

not really a new thing, been going on for years with the game that I can recall.  after about the 4th time i hunted down info on the map data, and found its stored in your local profile, learned the map pin data, emotes and skins were as well later.  every time i learn a new emote/skin, or uncover new maps (like genesis) I back the file up.

I get that it all the time, every time it crashes which is often. I gave up having a map now, always reset.
