BreakertheChaotic
Stat Mutation Question When it comes to a stat mutation is the mutation tied to that specific stat or is it a +2 that can end up on another parents higher base stat. Heres an example to clarify my question. Male had a health stat mutation of 22 (original value would be 20 without mutation) Female has no mutation health stat of 30. Can their baby come out with a health of 32 without there being a new mutation, ie the male mutation gets applied to females stat?
Kaprosuchus
no. the mutation, once it happens, is part of the base stat. in the example you mentioned, breeding them would be either a 30 or a 22 without mutation. a further mutation could put the stat of the child at 24 or 32. iI you get a mutation on a lower stat between a pair you should discard that child. OMCWILDCAT
This exact scenario is why you should always start from a base pair with identical stats before worrying about mutations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL4fDTRg4Ig This video is long and repetitive (on purpose) but will show the best method of breeding for stat mutations if you want to get the best breeding lines possible. Sligth
It is a good video and you can learn a lot... but isn't the most efficient way on official. Just to get to the stage you have good health, stamina and damage... and maybe carry weight in a single pair can take weeks or months, and you might have 5 or 6 good mutations in that process as well that would be a shame to discard. Many earlier tames are also quite suitable for boss fights... not imprinting them is a waste. Ark Smart Breeding is invaluable, but ignore the breeding suggestions and make your own plan.
