I don’t think there is, though I am sure somebody will correct me if I’m wrong. 
 

Other than that, what I’d do is jump onto a flying creature and fly low over the area you last saw him. As you search, keep spamming the “follow all” command, ensuring you have no active groups selected, unless it’s the group your missing dino is in. Just ensure none of your other dinos are nearby when you whistle. 
 

You can craft trackers which you can attach to your dinos in case it happens again.

Absolutely! That is great advice. The first thing you should do before searching. Saves you wasting time should the dino be dead.
