An honest Tribe

If I may share some experiences as a PvP player since the first day of early access.
I’ll try as far as possible to avoid any racist or inappropriate point of view. I’m sorry in advance for anyone who might be offended by my comments.

Megatribes :

These are the biggest "tribes" that a player may face.
We are talking about a group of a few hundred players to several thousand when taking alliances into account.
Several key elements make these entities essentially untouchable for the average player.
We are talking in particular about the size, the distribution of assets across a vast network of servers under their control,
the political stakes (yes there is a very strong notion of inter-tribal policies), the resources and the notion of mutual destruction assured.
These groups of players have, for all practical purposes, unlimited resources (materials + creatures),
but also the best locations as well as lines of breed creatures that require months or even years of work.
In short, if your playgroup is of standard size, between 5 to 15 players don't waste your time with the megatribes.
Your only option is integration / alliance building.

Selecting a region:

This is from experience, a highly neglected element that contributes largely to many players giving up.
Do you want to settle on a NA, SA,EU, OC or Asian server?
To make this selection, you must take into account your playing time, but also that of the members of your group.
If your goal is to partake in online PvP, choose a server in your region to start with. Conversely, if you decide to go to a server from a completely different region,
expect to see few players during your hours due to time differences.
This is a double-edged sword because you will then have plenty of opportunities to attack targets offline, at your own pace,
but the flip side is to suffer the same fate when you sleep.
In addition, it is also necessary to take into account the culture of the players populating the targeted server.
North Americans find it very difficult to work together because their players have the tendency to think that they are better than their neighbors
and / or would do things differently if they were in charge.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, the European groups with whom I have crossed swords are rather centered around a language
and / or a nationality and it is often difficult to infiltrate their ranks. The same conclusion can be applied for players from Asia.
In addition, certain cultures are strongly aggressive towards others because of the language spoken or simply cultural differences.
Another point to consider when selecting a server is the game mode, either standard or hardcore.
The first is the most flexible, but also the most intense since the death of the character has no meaning or impact outside of the respawn time.
On the contrary, if your character dies in a hardcore context, you lose all your levels, engrams, access to your tribe, etc.
There are many ways to get around these restrictions, however, but the point to remember is that the majority of attacks are made
when one of the opponents is offline, to minimize the risk of death.

Selecting a map :

Now is the time to choose which map to play on. Attached is a short summary of each of the maps:

The Island :
- Easiest map of them all.
- Explorer Notes.
- Plenty of alphas for leveling/tools/x bows.
- Limited amount of oil/pearls on the map.
- Lower amount of CP from dams => compared to Ragnarok/Valguero.
- Creatures tend to spawn at lower levels.
- Tek cave for extra 15 levels.
- Bosses overall harder compared to duo/trio setups.
- Hardly no defendable on-land spots.
- Map is so well-known you'll have a hard time hiding anything.
- Scattered resources.
- Small map.

Scorched Earth :
- Ghost town servers 99% of the time => Because of Ragnarok.
- Explorer Notes.
- Manticore is among the easiest boss to farm.
- Limited avaibility of creatures compared to other maps.
- Plenty of hidden locations.
- Water is a constant problem is you don't build near an ob.
- Spoil timer.
- Limited pearls.
- Unlimited oil supplies.
- CP is cancer without a chem bench.
- Electrical Storm makes base defense much harder.
- Infestation of carnos, yutis, tapes, wolves, sabers, golems.
- Creatures tends to spawn at higher levels, but nothing on par with Rag/Val/Center.
- Wyverns.
- Easy access to Deep Sea Loot Crates.
- Limited amounts of metal compared to othe rmaps.
- Small map => Smaller than the Island I believe.

Ragnarok :
- Largest map.
- The most popular/crowded  map.
- SE assets & creatures.
- Easiest Deep Sea Loot Crates to acquire.
- Easy black pearls spawns near the SW shores.
- Plenty of sneaky/hidden locations.
- 2 spots to get wyverns eggs. => NE & SW.
- Ice wyverns.
- Griffins.
- Lava Golem & Ice Cave for easymode drops.
- No Explorer Notes.
- Creatures tend to spawn at higher levels. 140+ are very common.
- Insane amount of CP from dams.
- Plenty of resources.
- Easy mode boss fight  for TP/Transmitter tekrams.

The Center :
- Large map.
- No unique creatures.
- No oil veins.
- No Explorer Notes.
- Still popular, but also a mesher's paradise.
- The best map for an underwater based tribe.
- Flyers are mandatory.
- Plenty of solid build spots.
- Abundant resources, but key ones such as obsidian are limited to some locations.
- Easiest map imho on which to tame gigas, as they instantly respawn when killed/tamed.
- Easy boss fight for tek turrets.
- Creatures tend to spawn at higher levels. 140+ are very common.

Valguero :
- Large map, bigger than Center, but smaller than Rag.
- Very crowded and popular map right now.
- Same beaver dams models as seen on Rag => Easy CP.
- Plenty of resources.
- SE & Aberration assets/resources.
- No Explorer Notes.
- Plenty of sneaky/hidden base locations.
- Aberration zone which doesn't allow flyers => solid base defense & countless build spots.
- Ice/chalk golems.
- Creatures tend to spawn at higher levels. 140+ are very common.
- Insane loot crates overall compared to other maps.
- Trio boss fight for more tekgrams at once.

Aberration :
- Hardest map to start on if naked (Don't spawn at the Portal, ever. Most retarded spawn as you commonly see raptors/basilisks there).
- Unlimited supply of metal.
- CP has to be made the old way OR via a frog.
- Very dependant on water pipes to grow your plants. => More problems to conceal a base.
- Near limitless amount of sneaky/hidden base spots.
- Best map to farm black pearls/organic poly.
- Rock drakes, reapers, crabs, ravagers, basilisks....
- Rockwell => Easiest way to unlock that +15 levels.
- No flyer map (Except for the Desert Titan...).
- Cliff platforms.
- I'd say that the creature level range is pretty even.

Extinction:
- Unlimited sulfur SW of the city for your burning instincts.
- Corrupted creatures. Makes building more interesting, but also way fun to kite around opponent bases.
- OSDs.
- Gachas, snow owls, manas, velos....
- Decent amount of metal on the map and from secondary sources.
- Plenty of build spots. The underground, not so much as a lot of areas are flagged as "cannot place structure there".
- Titans => easiest way to unlock some tekgrams.
- Easiest map on which to farm element/tek gear.

Genesis :
- Newest map. => Plenty of undiscovered base spots.
- New creatures with broken PvP features => Magmasaurs, whales, bloodstalkers…
- Easy loot from missions.
- Element is easy to farm, but nothing compared to Extinction.
- Tek is a pain to unlock if you are starting there.
- Best map by a large margin to get top level creatures.

Selecting a target :

Once you have selected a region, a game mode and a map, you must now identify the target tribe. In the overwhelming majority of cases,
the potential targets are due to lack of staff, negligence and / or simple lack of will.
Systematically, people who reach the top are struck by the magnitude of the task ahead of them,
the solidification of their grip on the target server and all the associated preparations.
We are talking here about weeks and months of work, if only to cleanse the server of any remaining opposition, to establish a real fortress,
to obtain tek equipment and / or to undertake breeding lines.
At this point, many will simply drop everything or enter maintenance mode in the case of a more established tribe.
Either one is to your advantage in preparing for your assault.

Morality :

The biggest obstacle to the advancement of a tribe or the rise to alpha tribe status is morality.
The vast majority of players, especially the smaller tribes, tend to keep certain moral principles such as honor and dignity.
You must be aware of the latest techniques of abuse and exploits as immoral as they may be. If you don't use them, know that your enemies will not hesitate.
In addition, as long as a flaw is not corrected or explicitly mentioned in the code of conduct, it is a gray area allowing you to take advantage of it.
The most recent example is the presence of tamed reapers in Genesis.

Anonymous:

Another notion overlooked by PvP players, especially on PC, is the anonymity of your Steam account.
Websites like Battlemetrics allow anyone to track your movements as well as the history of all the servers accessed by your Steam name.
It therefore becomes critical to counter this practice in order to preserve your source server in the event of frequent attacks by you on another server.
This is where the famous "123" comes into play, but be aware that it is difficult for you to hide your SteamID.
Likewise, even your creatures leave their mark. Indeed, if a creature is unconscious or dead, its original server is displayed on the screen,
revealing your source server.

Other tools :

To finish, here are some additional tools for your hunt. First, you will have to master the use of the orbital camera (K mode),
but also adjust the graphics settings of the game.
A player with the maximum graphics is penalized compared to another playing with the minimum ones. Why?
Simply because of the render distance of the objects and the priority of these.
On your side, you may seem to be perfectly camouflaged in the lawn, ready to snipe while for the enemy,
you are as visible in the distance as the nose in the face. Following the same logic, note that the interior of the bases is loaded before the outer shell,
thereby making it easy to identify the placement of the generator(s).
