Ten years later, what only remains are ungoverned civilians living with what resources they can find and a united tactical team know as Department of Human Services (DHS) formerly part of the american government. Civilians and DHS have been trying to fight off the spread of the virus over the last 5 years, however have been unsuccessful. As the DHS began to dwindle in numbers after engaging the hoards of infected individuals that took on a survival instinct of wanting to survive on the healthy flesh of those not infected, DHS has pulled back and now only acts as a hub to provide resources to civilians. At first, many civilians combated each other for resources such as food, however as time went on, some civilians realized that forming societies was a better route as the infected began growing in large numbers and swarms around them. Societies have begun developing better defenses and have proven through teamwork the ability to build stronger walls to keep the infected out and work together to better stock up on food, medicine, and firearms while also building internal electrical grids to support their base of operations. Being a post apocalyptic era, the land is extremely scarce on healthy wildlife. Characters will enter their stories with only essential food and drink, basic firearms and ammunition, cloths on their back and some healthy livestock. It will be up to the characters to work well with others by replenishing food resources, ammunition, medicine, and repopulating healthy livestock which in return can be used for resources and food.
