Because I want to build free, use different materials and combine them, make tiny towers, glass windows, try out what I can create with those triangles.

Why do I have to build like Im on pvp server when Im in fact on a pve one? I dont want those ugly turrets and hidious spike walls around, not the mention 243 behemoth gates to put all around. These "designs" make me puke. If I wanted all this I would join your precious pvp server.

There's no real practical difference if a wild dino attacks your base or one is dragged to your base by another player. If you haven't prepared for an attack by a wild dino, then you haven't properly prepared, which is a failure regardless of PvP or PvE.

Just because PvE isn't PvP does not mean there are never player conflicts in PvE. That's a mistaken assumption.

Yes and no. These kiters will drag 30 corrupt dino's or more in that 15 minute ORP window. That's tough to defend against online without losing anything much less offline.

It's not the same as building in a non corrupt spawning area and 1 or 2 stragglers show up.

If they are really dedicated they will wait for you to come back online and take shifts to keep the corrupted in render at your base.

You kind of need to have an ally account with ORP gates and yet another account with a podded Giga to check your base before logging onto your main account and protect your base during that 15 minute ORP timer.

That's a bit overkill but the only true way to protect your base on Extinction due to players not natural dino's.

99% of the griefers on Extinction just server hop, search for easy target bases, lure some corrupted, build teleporters or just use open public teles to lure ENDLESS amounts of corrupted gigas to your base.

A single corrupted giga deals 600-1800 dmg to any structure in a huge aoe and will destroy your whole base. I have no clue how absent minded the dev team was when they thought about this but did it never cross their mind that such things could happen? What methods could griefers use?
At this point it's not even griefers anymore, it's thiefs that make real money with your dinos. Everyone will have some event griffins, wyverns or other event dinos in their cryofridges and that can be sold for IRL cash. It's the same as on PVP, they join your server on second accounts and try to steal what they can. It's not the ''griefers'' from the past who had fun destroying some of your structures or killing some of your dinos, it's people at this point who want to make money.

I have seen really well defended bases being destroyed by a single spot they found to place a teleporter resulting in endless amounts of gigas. It's nearly impossible to report them, YOU WILL NEED the FULL video of them luring the corrupted from the spot, to the teleporter and then to your base, otherwise nothing will happen. Even if they get banned, it's probably not a perma and if it's a perma it was a second throw away account anyway, so who cares?

It's really bothering that you are forced to play like you are on PVP on a PVE server to the degree that you are forced to spikewall gigantic parts around your base, use second accounts to build walls. Have the turret amount capped and dinos guarding your base. You have to pillar gigantic areas because of the dino teleporting but you will get your pillars wiped if reported, makes sense :D

I can only recommend everyone to spikewall gigantic areas around your bases because the corrupted kill themselves pretty fast on them and the Enforcement Team does not seem to care about spikewalls.

Disabling the Wild Dino Teleport could already help with a lot of issues on Extinction but the map is already sold and PVP players (streamers, youtubers) are not complaining about it so who cares, right?

PVE is left on the sidewalk like a starving dog while the Dev's invest so many resources into PVP even tho @Cedrichimself said that most of the population is on PVE and that PVP doesn't even comes close to it but without ''influencers'' complaining about that issue, nothing will ever happen.

Maybe if all PVE players messaged the devs on their personal twitters because it seems the only thing they ever read or respond to. It's like a bunch of influencers gathered together at Wildcard and everyone makes some post about some change or fix he/she did.

Yes, that is true, however my comment was to someone who doesn't see the need to build even basic defenses because they aren't aesthetically pleasing.

I know on our private server anyone is welcome to drag as many corrupted Gigas as they want to my base and they will all die. To a very large degree that's just a matter of having the will & fortitude enough to create and maintain good defenses and a huge army of tames standing guard 24/7. Most griefers are going to pass on heavily defended bases in favor of smashing people who are more concerned about aesthetics.

Can corrupted creatures damage metal? If not, then metal. Be sure of your environment; if something has the potential to fall in - they will. The only issues I ever have is that one time an alpha raptor spawned literally inside our small sleeping quarters, and then that one other time the other week where a lvl 10 sabertooth just spawned in there as well. You'll never be able to prevent random spawn-ins, so a defensive countermeasure is a must, be it from neutral tames to plant turrets to auto turrets. I personally have a Heavy Turret in the quarters now.

Heavy Turrets solve problems.

....Get you a heavy turret. In your case, several.

A strategy I'd use for griefing is to identify possible chokepoints, then utilize a tall turret system to aggro wild creatures that can't be immediately dispatched - such as gigas - to themselves before they have a chance to turn their attention to your base. This is good at thwarting the attempts of people who kite creatures, as gigas have the attention span of an addict in a casino. It will also give you the precious time needed to ascertain a viable solution to kite the giga back away, or just flat out kill it yourself.

In terms of reparations; I 'highly' doubt anyone on the dev team is going to do anything for you - they don't like to. Your reparations will come in the form of cool people in the server community, if you've made any decent name for yourself especially.

Oh it is. No matter what kind of defenses you put up in PvE., if people want to spend the time kiting stuff to you. They will win. Period.

At least in terms of creatures scaled to the specs of the corrupted. I've been killing those attempts for years. No one enjoys pillar spam - but if its necessary, I'd take up an entire side of a small mountain with just pillars and turrets if thats how people want to play.

Also having a decent reputation in your server goes a long way.

PvP is another story. That battle of attrition turns into a dead-end job you'd rather quit, and they 'will' win, especially without offline damage protection.  No matter how you look at it, there's always someone else out there with a lot less of a social life than you had to have to construct your base and equipment; willing to sit and whittle away for prolonged periods of time without cease. Takes months, but its just a slow, definitively gradual decline.

It's a matter of draining your turrets just like in PvP and then it's game over.

Truth. But in terms of how many rounds each turret can hold, multiplied by the number of turrets of different types and ranges being a mix of plant and auto, then factoring in the amount of fertilizer and bullets along with the time it takes for the offline damage counter to engage, then its all a matter of hopping on and refilling them since its still technically feasible-yet-exhausting to try to break through them all at once. They won't fire when the protection activates, nor will they be aggro'd, giving a chance for local wildlife to catch the culprits attention. If whilst online, then handling the threat ourselves is a given so turret drain is mitigated.

Rinse. Repeat. Thrive.

Offline damage protection is the factor here that nullifies griefing significantly. However without sufficient defenses, it matters not. Any joe blow can just waltz in and proceed to grief.

Normally true. But when you have an unlimited amount of corrupted gigas you can teleport and kite. You simple won't win against somebody with some time on their hand.

Indeed. As stated earlier, the added variable of things like corrupted gigas flips the script significantly. I believe location is key in this regard. If you can't get good real estate, then you probably shouldn't be there - at least not for the longrun.

Its actually pretty sad.

It's pretty sad. I wouldn't play that map on officials.

Odd question, why not put turrets down and set it to kill wild dino's? Shouldn't that fix the issue?

The corrupted take reduced damage from turrets and are in infinite supply. You just keep kiting them, soaking the turrets. Game over.

Wow thanks, I guess plant species x is the way to go, however wait I tough the plant was nurfed... is that data still accurate?

People kite corrupted dinos in PVP as well to clear spam. The fix is to spam large fields of plant x and to be online to defend. If you can't be online, consider joining a tribe so that you have more members available around the clock. Ark is a demanding game and I think it's good that PVE players get to experience the highs and lows of it, as PVP players do.
