random people joining a password server?

the title says it all. i put a admin password on a non dedicated session, invite my GF to play with her on ark alone, but we get random people join us out of the blew. how is this possible and how can i fix this? it is rude, creepy and annoying.

admin password =/= password protected server

if you want to have a password you need to use  

ServerPassword=<password>

in your server GameUserSettings.ini

but a more secure and nicer way is to whitelist access

by using

-exclusivejoin

as a command line argument and then add your SteamID and your Girlfriends to the whitelist

check for a file named " PlayersJoinNoCheckList.txt "

in this path

Windows server:
"\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64\" 

Linux server:
"/ShooterGame/Binaries/Linux/"

and add the Ids there on separate lines

if the file does not exist just create it
