Got it - I'll try and investigate this evening before putting this release together. 

Been a while since I touched ASE - seems to be popular again at the moment with ASV users.

Based on log file information it looks like something might have changed in the format, maybe due to the use of the command line arguments you tried.

5.1.0.8 now available for download:

Changes

  • Reverts to using V8 file format when reading in ASE data that says it's V9 but has no chunked index store for the tribes and players. @zzzmarshmallow
  • Switching map from the dropdown on main Viewer window will now refresh the details displayed on screen without having to change tabs. @MotherGoose
  • Added "Max Cores" config option to limit number of CPU cores used by ASV when parsing ARK save data. (ArkViewer only atm) @MotherGoose
  • Fixed copy/rcon command generation. It was a copy/paste job and referring to the wrong grid causing issues. @MotherGoose

@MotherGoose if you still have problems loading that specific map please upload it somewhere like Google drive or similar and provide me with the download link via DM.

Hello,

This is quite embarrassing but uhm eff it. I was directed here by another player but I have zero clue on how to utilize the ark viewer. My goal is to be able to see player inventories. Is there somehow an Arkviewer for dummies that someone can direct me to? 

I've gotten as far as this..

@RiceHuntress - unfortunately as it was never planned to be a public facing tool it's all kinda just provided as-is without any real documentation etc.  

I'm happy to talk you through anything you're stuck with if you can provide more information on what you're trying to do?

  1. What save game are you trying to load?  (Ark Evolved or Ascended) 
  2. Where is that save game file located?  Locally or on an FTP server somewhere?

If it's who I believe has recommended you it's probably Ark Evolved from console and downloaded locally using his discord bot?

  • If so then select the radio / option button for: Savegame File (ark/gz).
  • Click the icon that looks like "new document"image.png.c187738323ce1e13a4056f7fc6343105.png
  • Select your .ark / .gz file you want to load. Cluster folder is probably irrelevant if its just a single game you're trying to parse so leave that empty.
  • Offline Name = Any name you want to identify this particular save as within Ark Viewer.
  • Rcon details will also be blank unless you're viewing a live server with RCON enabled.

  1. What save game are you trying to load?  Ascended 
     
  2. Where is that save game file located?  I downloaded the .ark via ftp. I was going to try to use the ftp option from my photo but all options are greyed out except for the Single Player option.

hi, when I select let's say a lot of dinos to get a command, it doesn't work because the program puts unnecessary spaces or invisible characters that have to be removed manually for everything to work, which is extremely inconvenient, please fix this

what the program gives that does not work

My apologies for the belated response!

I have tested the update, all functions well now. One thing could still use a small update: the graphs in the tribes tab don't update after a tab switch, but the actual data does 👍

I started using your application not long ago, is it possible to receive real-time data from the server? Now to get the latest data I have to save the world through the console command and after that I can click update in the program and get new data
I will be grateful if you tell me how to get data in real time

To do that you'd need to write yourself your own mod.. or find one out there.  S+ used to have some functionality to find wilds using multiple teleporters to extend the range but not aware of anything that does as much as ASV in-game.

Unfortunately this will never be able to retrieve real-time data as it's purely based on parsing the save file format.

It means for whatever reason ASV was unable to match up them tames to an active tribe.  Maybe the tribe left the server or for whatever reason that tribe data is unavaible.

If you can provide a copy of your backup I can investigate further.

I'll get a new release out this evening after work but looks like they used exact same co-ordinate system in Aberration for ASA that they did for ASE.  So to temporarily add support until I get a release out add this to you maps.json file:

5.1.0.9 now available:

Changes

  • Fixed chained commands. These were incorrectly adding a space between each command when multiple items were selected from a grid.
  • Re-worked cryopod parsing - this version might be a little slower but needed a re-work so I can start looking at possible performance improvements in a future build.
  • Fixed "Tameable" option on Ark Viewer not being remembered on re-load.
  • Fixed tribe chart not refreshing if changing maps when the tribes tab is open.
  • Added Aberration support for Ark Ascended.

Planned

  • Investigate new "traits", how they work and how best to report them.  Just pulled a quick list from my data and have these so far - no idea what any are or how they work but will update ASV once I learn more

Thanks for this! I may have a related issue, I can't see info about any items in the "item search" tab -- the items i have in my base are listed but when searching 0 results display. Also curiously mutagen seems to be missing from the list entirely (not listed with name "mutagen" or "primalitemconsumable")

On the same note when mutagen buff is active, I can't find any mutagen in "dropped items" tab (I think that's where it's listed?) -- Usually one stays hidden until I use "gotofirstmutagendrop" so it may be under mesh/invisible but even while at the mutagen spawn, it doesn't show in ASV. Death caches show, as do dropped eggs.

I'll message you with my save file in case you want to take a peek. Thank you kindly!

 

** edited to add that the item search results issue resolved itself after a fresh install of 5.1.0.9 & also you can not see “wild” mutagen spawns in ASV as they do not persist - they are loaded in only when server is active. Thanks Mirage for letting me know!

FYI wilds can only ever have 1 trait maximum but tames can have up to 5.

I'm working on adding this information as follows:

  • Re-work of selections on Wilds Tab to include "Trait" filter similar to the "Resources" dropdown.
  • Addition of "Trait" field on Wild results grid showing the trait it has applied.
  • Re-work of selections on Tames Tab to include "Trait" filter.
  • Addition of trait count on Tame results grid showing number of traits currently applied.
  • Addition of trait list to the "Dino / Creature Inventory" screen.
  • Export of "traits > trait" for tames.
  • Export of a single "trait" for wilds.

I have most of this coded already but I'm still investigating how these "traits" are stored in the gun and gene splicer machine thing.  I'll try and get a new update out before Monday.
