How do Pheromones Work?

So hey wassup guys! Recently I've been thinking to start breeding animals to get mutations on a server I joined about 4 days ago (Western Plains - PvE - Easy - NA) and I found out that pheromones where a thing. And apparently they make mutations 3x more likely to appear.

So I have some questions about them.....

1. Are they a 1 time use?

2. Why are carnivore pheromones more expensive than herbivore pheromones?

3. Are they really worth it?

4. Can you use them on any animals?

5. Do they have any drawback?

6. So I'm just supposed to put it on the female's inventory and it works just like that?

7. If they're not a one time use than how many times can I use it?

8. Without using one of these what are the chances that I'll get a mutation?

3.You can breed eggs without having air conditioners, it‘s faster, you get mutations more often
