Change code of conduct to allow for mesh defense

Agro

Suggestion

As it stands today there is no way to stop meshers without being dev wiped. I know wildcard has been doing better on this front lately and that's commendable, however they will never be able to 100% stop this exploit by passive coding tweaks. We need to be able to defend ourselves. Even if a mesh account is caught and banned they will simply start another account, meanwhile the countless hours of work they destroyed is never replaced.

I propose that wc issue a temporary statement allowing players to build defenses IN THE MESH so long as those defenses can not fire on legitimate players or tames, until at such a date as a more legitimate solution can be made.

Reverse the way projectiles shoot through terrain

Projects do not get stopped by shooting into terrain but do get stopped by shooting put of terrain

To rephrase

Projectiles can shoot from the visual side to the underneath (inside / non visual) side without being stopped, but cannot shoot through from the non visual/inside/underside to the surface/visual side

Someone explain why this change is a bad idea?

Edit : yes people could drain turrets this way, but then if it was a toggle able option, you could have some set to mesh defence, and some set to not,

But don't call it mesh defence, call it heat seeking and only have it on Tek auto turrets and heavy auto turrets and every other player controlled ranged projectile

So you think the best method would be to teach meshing to every player? How would this fix the problem with people meshing, it would only make things worse by giving the tools and knowledge of meshing to everyone.

How to get in the mesh is already public knowledge hence the problem.

If it was as easy as that it would be done already. Im calling for immediate action that players can take themselves.

Don't think it's viable. They have issues patrolling the current meshers with video evidence, now they'd have to patrol whether or not something is considered a viable mesh defense as well as the current meshing which would dilute stretched resources even further.

So far implementing a kill barrier is the only real solution but with occasional glitches, people would lose dino's/items and that wouldn't sit well with most of the community.

I agree a kill barrier would be ideal.

The culling of current meshers is the entire point. Wildcard comes in after the deed is done. Mine is the argument that when seconds matter the police are minutes away.

Not neccesarily. Just because something seems easy, does not mean that somebody or nobody had thought of it until now,

Take most advancements in technology and society, with hindsight we can say something so easy or simple but being the first person to formulate that idea when non have before isn't easy or simple.

Like if the game knows to stop bullets the way it already does, then why not change it, there must be an option to change it, flip it, reverse it, cancel it, ignore it

A death barrier with vectors to follow even loosely the terrain above the ground would be so resource heavy on servers and clients this is something they hate stated and why it isn't a thing

We are talking essentially loading image. Second map ontpp of the visible map, that's a lot of resources
