Keeping the idea of Classic PvP in mind, there are still some additions to the game that are basically necessity due to their positive impact on server performance. Playing these servers since their release, some of these things are as follows:
Cryopods - The addition of cryopods is a large change in the meta, though not necessarily a bad one. At three weeks into the classic servers, our main base is already experiencing <5 FPS and requiring over a minute to render. I believe one main drive in the Classic PvP servers is to disincentivize cave building - and while cryopods makes cave building more of a possibility than previously, cave building will never be completely strong/viable unless they add teleporters.
Tek Turrets - Without addition of Tek Turrets, soaking with golems and stegos will be extremely powerful and efficient.
Tek Transmitters - Without transmitters, transfer PvP becomes far more of a headache, without any real addition/substantial gameplay loss - simply a time-saver/QoL addition.
Tek Trough - Simple QoL addition, removes nothing from "classic" theme, only makes breeding more manageable.
Tek Sleeping Pod - Another simple QoL addition that doesn't remove anything from the theme or gameplay.
Overall, the main issue of adding things, namely tek, is that it might infringe on the idea of "classic," however it's extremely clear that a lot of changes since the original "classic" times are simply all around improvements - in terms of gameplay and most importantly, performance. As a whole, the cluster would benefit from the addition of tek, with the exclusion of teleporters in an attempt to stay away from the cave meta.
