Wipe Official Servers

Suggestion

After almost 2 years of constant breeding, every larger group now has incredibly mutated dinos that are nowhere close to what the game was originally balanced around. This means that dinos like Rhinos or Therizinosaurs deal much more damage and are much harder to kill than they were 1.5 years ago when the game released. Politically, the game is currently very stale, with alliances constant, no big conflicts and many people leaving the main cluster for others clusters or other games for a fresher and more exciting experience. A wipe would easily reset breeding back to its original state and bring these dinos back down to what they were originally, and bring back many players that have left over the last year.

edit: im talking (mostly) about the Official PvP network, non-legacy, main cluster)

I don't care if pvp servers are wiped, but I don't want my pve servers wiped.

This is exactly how I feel.

Different playstyle and mindset on PVP vs. PVE

I came from playing Rust and the wipes were necessary as a pvp-centric game. We were happy to have them. You either get too strong, the server dies off as people get raided, or you have been emptied out. There are servers with weekly and monthly wipes, some modded servers are even longer. In any case, the wipes are an integral part of that game, keep things fresh and interesting. It allows you to play from primitive to endgame in whatever way you see fit over and over.

PVE Is a whole different ballgame. It is typically more casual. Play at your own pace, learn the game, not forced to pull full day sessions to keep up. In my case, we wanted to learn the game playing PVE, we hopped to 5 or 6 different servers until we found one that was suited to our skill level. It took us days to understand the mechanics and play half-decent. a month before we had passable tames and were being more efficient.

In our case, playing PVP would not have allowed us the time to grow. Not wiping after months of playing gave us a chance to learn most things so when server transfers opened we were confident in exploring other maps knowing we had a home to go back to.

The people who feel like they wanted a different playstyle went to PVP

just wipe all servers!!! i played this game for more then 12k hours on ps4. more then 5k on pc. its not possible to start in this game. we got team wiped on small tribes, a week ago. they have all the duped stuff, while we have bad tames. its not competitive anymore. people are very salty. today i builded a stone base on official pc. they destroyed it with a giga :) ....its pvp ofc, but duping, cheating, meshing, dossing is out of controle. this game is broken for re-players. its also hard to join a mega tribe in this state. they simply dont trust u. we controlled four servers on ps4, and got meshed on all four servers within three days. then we builded on valguero pc, in the abb zone. we had 4 deathwalls with turret cap. it got meshed aswell by a well known megatribe. no server rollback happened after my tickets. just lost all the progress we made in  years. ark is a good game, but not in its current state. only the alphas with duped stuff are controlling this game!! so fix the problems and wipe all servers!!!!!

162 upvotes? Looks to me like a wipe is not popular at all. If the alpha tribes and all the other people really wanted a wipe this should have at the very least 3000 upvotes. You see the amount of people participating on official servers and the number of upvotes these posts get and it is far 2 low.

Also when i see people talking about original balance you have to remember the game released in early access. Their original balance was based off not having breeding in the game at all and since it is a main feature everyone plays for getting people to vote for a wipe so long as they have pixels they want to protect chances are they will down vote instead of up vote.

There are servers that wipe on a schedule play on one of those they are actually pretty damn fun. How ever wiping all servers would be a terrible idea for the game. Some of us work a lot and have only gotten where we are due to an hour or two here and there (PvE obviously). Many of the players active in the workforce would quit, we would go back to square one and anyone who has started from nothing knows without "OP" dinos and all the facy doodads we have our hour or two a day wouldn't get us very far.

PS: Yay early bird.. again... darn security updates and losing access to my old email and therefore my old forum account...

pls wipe all servers. its not playable for newcomers or returning players. i played like 5k hours on pc version, but when we want to restart, we get wiped after 1 hour everytime we try. its not possible for us to play. wildcard should refund our money, as we cant startover on smalltribes official. duping, cheating and meshing should be fixed first, otherwise it would be pointless and the problems will come again

I think its funny people point out post count, I don't see how post count has much to do with anything since most of us have been playing for years and just made accounts for forums because the game IS getting stale and we are here to voice that concern.

PvE needs some type of war mechanic/dueling brought back in so the game isn't just getting on and farming to us. I mean seriously a few people get tricked in PVE and its ruined for the rest of us that like to do 1v1 dino fights? There needs to be better solutions, like adding a prompt for allies to accept to join in on a war and less of the "one bad apple ruins the bunch" thought process. Breeding is a fun pass time but it gets old tbh.

PvP needs to be wiped for every reason that's been stated, its almost pointless to even try since you're gonna get raided every 5 days  and lose everything to some guy who either bought his mutated dinos or is in a mega tribe. Its really just an unfair uphill battle now.

Honestly if you're looking for fair fights I would go to an unofficial to pvp. There you can actually pvp people, the guys on pvp official only want to offline you and steal your things. Essentially Arks official pvp is a few dude cowering in the corner waiting for you to go to sleep at night so they can be "good PvP players".

More relevant than ever. If devs aren't going to wipe they should at least add more wiping clusters. Add a smalls that wipes every 6 mo/put the cross arks on a wipe schedule to boost their population (ORP/Notek, etc.) Add no tame servers monthly wipe, add primitive arkpoc, anything. PvP servers need some help. Small tribes is all mega tribes RMTing at this point and no one plays it because of that.

Why doesn't all ark servers wipe the reason no one play any more is because of the mutated dinos and how big every one is if ark wipes all servers will be full and ark would go back to its glory every one is losing interest i would suggest that ark wipes from the start im a player that has ben playing since the game came out and its honestley getting extremely boring all my friend and all the ppl i know wants it to wipe so why not wipe all ark server at least when when ark 2 comes out. It would be an amazing thing

I’d absolutely come back to the game if PvE servers were wiped.  I’ve attempted to fresh start a few times over the past year and ended up spending hours looking for a spot to build. Meanwhile most of the map is pillared off with a few mega tech bases scattered about.

At the very least they should release a significant number of new servers on a fresh cluster every two years.  Clean out the old dead servers and give players an option to keep it fresh.

So I've seen a lot of activity around this topic and I thought I would post my opinion cause why not. I'm going to break this down into three parts. Reasons for a wipe, What to do before a wipe, and what this should achieve.

REASONS FOR A WIPE:

Many people are agreeing that the Official servers have become stale and are pretty much just a playground for tribes in the big alliances. Dino breeds have become suuper strong - good job breeders - but have gotten so strong that they remove competitiveness for smaller tribes. most servers are either getting griefed every day or have huge tribes built on them with heaps of spam. I am making these comments as someone who has played in mega tribes, started in a smaller tribe recently and am currently playing in a alpha tribe in one of the alliances. Also grand scale PvP is pretty horrible abused by DDoS attacks and server capping.

the official cluster also has some pretty major points of inequality between new and old tribes. things such as the new kibble system where older tribes benefit from A) still having working old kibble that is much easier to make then new kibble and B) having already got a lot of tames such as griffins and rock eles with the easier kibble system for them

NOTE: I believe this should only effect PvP, I do not play on PvE servers and can not speak for them.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE A WIPE:

It is important that things change before a wipe is even considered otherwise everything just goes back to where it was before.
1) limit Tribe size to 20 player tribes
2) Rework alliances to not be two ways and instead be given to individual players who have normal alliance perks within the tribe.
3) make tribes exist across all servers. example: if I was in tribe X on server 1 and then joined server 2 I would still be in tribe X with all the same people.
*
4) rework the necessity for foundation spamming. foundation spamming is a pretty fundamental and defining part of ark pvp. it contributes to the unique war scenarios where you see tribes pushing against each other to gain ground. It is important to keep this fun PvP style alive but remove the server lagging foundie spam that creates it. I suggest introducing an item that has a lot of hitpoints and locks enemies out from building in the area around it, this area should be 5X the size of a single foundation.
*
5) cap out a dinosaurs mutations at 20. currently there are ways to endlessly mutate dinos.
*
6) reduce the cost of crafting ARBs.
*
7) hard cap the player speed at 150%.
im sure there are more changes that could help make ark more fun post a wipe.

WHAT THIS SHOULD ACHIEVE:

1, 2, 3) These changes will shrink the sizes of tribes and a tribes effective player count when PvPing. this should almost entirely wipe the competitiveness of mega tribes and would also cap the extreme growth rate that you see some of the tribes achieving. This should hopefully also stop the Slot capping meta and without that hopefully also reduce the need for DDoS attacks.
*
4) this should clear up lag on servers whilst also retaining the fun style of PvP that foundation Spam produced. I would think that the item that protected an area would also have the ability to be powered to further increase its hitpoints.
*
5) this would be a soft cap on the dino stat growth rate. it would still be possible to have competitive stats as you can find wild dinos with better base stats but it would also stop any dinos from becoming too strong. 100Khp paracers come on.
*
6) this should hopefully counter offline raids a bit more, offlining will always be meta as it is the easiest way to wipe a base.
*
7) this shoud just make true PvP without dinos a little more interesting, we really don't need little women with underbites running around faster then any dino in the game.

My suggestion for PVE is to have some sort of building that gives the player a set area to build in. Then the player can upgrade said building to get more space or make more of them to allow them to build in other locations. This will stop the unbelievable amount of pillar spam on pve servers if done right.

This building should also get more expensive as more are created by the player so that these are not spammed like the pillars.

Most of the PVE servers i play on have plenty of open land. The problem is people you login and after 5 minutes of not being able to place a fire in the spawn zone, start complaining on global about pillars. How hard it it to understand that 1,000 other poeple have had the same idea before you did? You have to get well away from the spawn areas in order to get some dirt.

I remember a while back a noob logged into our island server and needed a ride, and was pretty rude about it. Of course we had to ask him where needed a ride to.... and he replied that he's going to be building his base at 22-69. He proceeded to blow a fuse when all the laughing subsided. so entitled. lol.

its funny that people with a low post count want a wipe, and people with a high post count dont want a wipe.

new players will always want a wipe, that will never change, they want to start equal with all the others.

90% of the starters only play this game for a few weeks upto a few months,

and there would be more people that want a wipe because there will always be more starters then established players.

this is why it is extremely hypocritical and mean to ask for a wipe because statistics say that you are not even here anymore after 3 months.

some dinos like tuso mosa and basilo take 1.5 years where they are now, they are op, but they are not even close to max possible. you want to wipe this work.

I have 7k hours, my post count is low, your statement dont mean poop, I agree wipe official

WC could release some servers with breeding turned off. Not sure how popular they would be, breeding is one of Ark unique gameplay mechanics.

breeding is a really cool part of the game I just think they need to keep it good and worth while but also limit the endless nature of it. it should be capped
