enfenix
Hello everybody! I want to set up a Windows 10 Dedicated Server on a Virtual Server (ESXi). I wonder if it is really necessary to install the complete 90GB from Microsoft Store. Is there no standalone Server for the Crossplay version? Is it possible to remove unused game files after the installation? I would not like to occupy the disk space more than necessary. thx.
Juggernaut
Yes full version all files needed (ark devs don't compress files go figure), no dedicated server hosting console (eg it is not headless, you need an igpu/gpu to host), can't remove files after installation to shrink size. enfenix
OK thanks. I know that the MS-Store and Steam version are not compatible, but for my understanding, the Steam Server version for example on Ubuntu would work Headless? Or did I misunderstand that? Juggernaut
That is correct, not compatible, crossplay is only between Xbox and Ms store version. The steam hosted version is headless and has more features like console command startup option to cluster and such.
enfenix
I'm still playing with the Game Pass, but after the trial, I'll keep that in mind before deciding which version i will buy. Thank you for the information.
