is it worth getting creatures to hatch over lv 375?

the only reason i ask is because the lv cap is 450 and you can lv up a creature 74 lvs and wouldnt the stats be higher if you stopped at 375 and just lved to 450 instead of trying to get the stats on hatch?

it's not worse, you gain more bonus on additional levels than mutations (based on the %)

thats what i thought. the whole thing that popped this question into my head was i was watching someone play and they are raising a lv 400 woolly rhino.

Well, stats scale with level ups, so the better the base stat is, the stronger the animal gets with each level up. Plus hitting the level cap can take forever anyway. But, you can do some things to mitigate the level cap on your animals. For example, breed 0 points into stats you don't want or care about. Most commonly this is done with the speed stat since it's a waste of points otherwise. This can also be done with food and/or oxygen on animals that don't actively need those stats to function. For animals that will not be ridden by the player, you can also do this with stamina and weight. This all reduces the base level of the animal, but allows for higher meaningful base stats, especially with stat mutations.

Or play on any game mode that doesn't enforce a level cap, such as single player or unofficial servers.

forgive the noob question but does this mean that if you breed a dino at level 450 you can't level it?

Hello,

At 450 the dino goes poof so its max 449. Lets imagine that you can level easy 45 levels then baby over 404 is max. But the limit do make oxygen at low levels a good stat.
