It was getting a constant floating 1 above it. I hoofed it out of there. I later on found some info on the net that the game shows that floating numbers as if it is being damaged , but they don't actually take any damage. Its intended to "take damage" when you enter spore area, since your suit is the one taking damage (assuming you went in there with a full hazard suit on) and you have that kind of getting hurt sound.
