Ark's Got a Plot! Make a Movie!

Recommended Posts

Which map would the movie be about though? It would be way too long of a movie to try and include every DLC. Maybe start off explaining what led up to extinction, like the fever and disease thing. Maybe explain how they got out of control and destroyed the world ( Maze Runner anyone), and then show the man waking up. They would have to do a really good job in showing the confusion of everyone, and focus more on the explorers notes than the surviving aspect. If we wanted to see someone survive we would go watch Man vs Wild or something. Maybe the man learns enough to realize that he’s on an Ark, a man made environment aboard a space ship, a last ditch attempt to save the world and its creatures. They could include a bit of Extinction, maybe the man got down to earth and realized that him and his tribe are the only humans left, and that a horrible plague occupies animals( the corrupted creatures), and that colossal beings that come to be known as Titans, who have slept for ages but woke up because of the plague, have returned to the surface and rule everything. Maybe the Titans attack the humans in an all at war, corruption versus players and tames, and in order to survive, the humans have to reach an ancient archive explaining the Arks in detail and that the plan was to drop them to the surface and repopulate a dying world, but the plague killer the last ones before they could activate the plan, or maybe it would be called a fail safe. The humans would then have to activate the failsafe and bring the Arks plunging back to earth, spreading life and fauna and flora everywhere. The Titans would be purged of corruption when the failsafe was activated, and they return to their lairs deep in the earth (tarrasque), but what no one realizes is that Abberation came down as well, releasing reapers, ravagedz, karkinoses, and other horrors known to abberation, including Rockwell. They could set it up for another one where Rockwell escapes and that’s the new danger. By that time, the earth is almost recovered, and humans have begun repopulating, with thousands now ruling. Rockwell goes on a rampage, and the few humans who are convienlently the descendants of the heroes from the first one are the only ones brave enough to standand fight. They find the ancient archives and discover that the tames of their ancestors are stored in strange capsules( cryopods). They release the dinosaurs, and learn that Rockwell was created by the same thing that powers most of the city, commonly known as Edmundium. They make another journey back to the archives, and discover that the huge beast who is now rampaging across the world, once again tainting it, was once an old man who discovered Edmundium, Edmund Rockwell. They also discover the secrets of the Titans, learning how to tame them. They journey underground, maybe with an abberation theme to the underworld, and locate the Titans, wakening them from their slumber, and enlisting them in the fight against Rockwell. The Titans, after beating Rockwell, have caused so much damage hay they collapsed their tunnels and caves, trapping them in the surface. Years pass, in which humans have almost rebuilt to their former glory, but still staying in tune with nature, too afraid of losing it again. The Titans still wander as massive beasts that represent the sheer power and force of nature.

The purpose of the Titans from an in-game lore perspective are as tests leading to the King Titan, the personification of Corruption. To exclude the King Titan is really to exclude corruption altogether. Canonically(Not reflected in game play) the destruction of King Titan signals the destruction of all corrupt Element on Earth. Due to the inherently corrupt nature of Aberration(Meaning departure from what is normal, usual, or expected) there is still corrupt element under the control of Rockwell. As this corrupt element is no longer attached to the King Titan, Rockwell assumes control over it.

Ark's existing overarching story, no matter how contrived or thrown together it may be at times, is suited to be a movie in itself(Likely multiple based on map or length, Island p.1 and p.2 to cover a lot of the different aspects the game has, etc. etc.).

titans were either E.T's or created by corrupt element. either way they are evil due to the corrupt element in them. if the movie was to be made. it would most likely take place on extinction or it would have multiple movies one for each story dlc not including rag and the centre. Rockwell did not even know about the titans as he is trapped on ab until the ending of extinction which by the way did anyone realise they left a cliff hanger for either a movie or another game or more unlikely an expansion pack. the king titan controls the sub-titans. and before anyone goes and says make the overseer the bad guys they are guardians of the arks the do not intend to kill but rather test those of who have ascended to there arena. they would have to make ark more popular by say improving it or making merch and?or possibly a TV series. infact a TV series would be better cause it would take its time to explain rather than squish it all together in 1-4 movies.

I will totally pay to see the movie so long as it tracks back to the games obvies parts in the story.

Sane here - and that actually means a lot from me in regards to movies that are based off video games. I never even touched WoW's special because of how much of WoW's contents is straight out fantasy. This game has an edge - It has a story line and as opposed to it being about Wizards, Priests, and other generic MMO style of characters we're limited to survivors. Because of this and the notes, these survivors can make an incredibly good movie.

Ark: The island

Ark 2: Scorched earth

Ark 3: Aberration

Ark 4:Extinction

spinoffs: Ragnarok and the Center.

The non-canon ARKs can be a focus of a series, because there are so darn many of them that are good, including the official non-canon ones.  Rag and Center for sure, but Volcano, Amissa, Skies of Nazca, Crystal Isles, Valguero, Thieves' Island, and others.

The explorer notes alone of the canon ARKs have enough content to make a movie apiece, excluding the unique dinos and features of all!  The Island movie would be more of an intro to what ARK is:  Hunting, taming, building, breeding dinos, these kind of things would be the "unique" part of The Island movie.  SE can feature desert excursions, Deathworm battles, Raia raising a wyvern, weather effects, and so forth.  Ab can show radiation and Reapers/Karkinos and all those things, and Ext can feature flashbacks to the time before the ARKs were sent to space, piecing it all together.

With the series you could really get creative, because that's what the non-canon ARKs are kinda all about, anyway.  Focus on new stories, struggles, conflicts, that show human stories instead of the overall journey that is ARK.  I dunno.  There's a lot of story in this game.
