Which graphic settings would be better for my pc?

Everthing at minimum except the resolution scale, and antialiasing. That will grant decent looks and solid 60 fps, plus the tactical advantage of not having shadows or vegetation which is pretty great actually. And remember, sky settings always at minimum.

This is massive overkill. My computer is identical to yours except my cpu sucks and i run with everything at High and some at Epic at max res scale (1080p) and maintain 40+ except on Aberration.

Biggest factors are;

Distant Field Shadowing

Ground Clutter (either density or distance)

Then whichever of the following you care out least: Post Processing, High Quality Antialiasing, and both shadows.

PS - Mesh Detail should always be at minimum, there is zero perceptible difference at 1080p. With a 1060 you can sit at 1080p max res scale with no issue. Shadows should be at Medium mayne High if you really love them. Texture detail can only go to High, Epic doesn't do anything. And SSAO is worth turning off but is pretty noticable in this game, unlike most.

Edit; whoops didnt realize you were getting to 60 fps. Also the sky on minimum thing was fixed about a year ago, works perfectly fine now at least for 6gb cards.

Bro try to put everything at max except the resolution scale and and resolution, which will be at minimum. Just try and send a pic.

Oh and fps counter please.

Okay, but what are you asking for exactly? Res scale at minimum? Why would i do that, my whole reason for buying a 1060 was So i could go max res scale at 1080p...

Here they are, I put together screenshots from two different maps, since map makes a gigantic difference. The Aberration ones show that I can barely get 30 fps at my normal levels (high with a few things turned down), but the Rag shots show that that exact same configuration gets 60+. Unfortunately having the graphics options showing cuts the fps by 5, so just gotta trust me that they were not tweaked ;).

Remember, resolution and resolution scale are the most important ones.

If you everything at max and these two low, the game will always look like poop.

Ah, I think I see what happened, we got our posts mixed up here.

I agree that resolution is one of the biggest factors in looks, I bought a whole new card just so I could hit 1080p at playable fps, didn't get better cause I don't need more than 40 fps.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have a hp pavilion laptop at the moment, with Windows 10 Home Edition, Processor: Intel Core i7-5500U CPU @ 2.4GHz, RAM: 12GB, 64-Bit OS. I have only adjusted my settings a few times but have found if I uncheck all the boxes and play at around 1280 by 600 resolution with resolution scale at the middle of slider,  medium world tile buffers, epic view distance and anti-aliasing, medium post processing, both shadows at low, and textures at medium it is do-able. if u have intel you can use Control+Alt+F12 to bring up Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, Go to Display, and in the color settings you can make specific profiles. There are basic and advanced settings, adjust to personal preference. (I have 2 profiles saved one for day and one for night). Also in the Ark options menu when you hit escape, go to the Key Bindings and look at the Gamma 1 value and gamma 2 value, I have mine at 2 and 5. I have to constantly change graphics settings depending on time of day and weather.

         Sorry for such a long message I just wanted an exact explanation of my method.... Of course when things get a little "choppy" I lower settings in options menu a little bit. Hope this helped a little, have a good one. -Charles
