Patch : Whistle Stop and Whistle Follow will interrupt the current ability...

PLEASE extend this to all dinos, all abilities! It should be unnecessary to manually manage their aggression state when you've signaled them to a different action. An experienced player can handle it, but non-experienced players are completely and continually frustrated and confused by why their dinos did not obey the Follow command when they're trying to get the dinos out of a fight. You can see this all over Youtube vids, esp. some group play vids where they have different levels of ability among their players.

I would even say dinos on Follow should automatically be on Passive or Passive Flee, and let the player whistle them to attack what they want, rather than having the dinos following on Neutral and having to have the player whistle them Passive and Follow again to get them out of fights. That would be a more natural way, imo.

God no, if that was added then having escort animals would be useless. You'd be walking/riding/swimming somewhere and anything you have on follow could get mauled before you even realize that a fight has started.

Learning how to manage Follow+Neutral, or Follow+Attack my  Target is part of the process of learning the game. Don't punish players who have learned how to properly manage their dino settings and whistle keys. Pretty much everyone has lost dinos in the way you have described, it's part of the learning curve, and it's often the experience that demonstrates to players why it's important to understand aggression settings and whistle commands.

Your suggestion would both dumb down the game and make tames more vulnerable to being killed when in Follow.

None of your claims are true, and every one of them is also hyperbolic fearmongering.

The most common cause of losing dinos is having them fight in an uncontrolled environment, such as when they break follow to counterattack something which attacked them. A dino moving on Follow is generally FASTER than anything trying to attack them. So as long as the keep moving, they're much safer from death than if they break follow and go chasing things that attacked them. You are far more likely to have them get lost that way and die, than if they stayed on Follow until you got on the stick and started commanding their situation. Now if you like cavalcades that stretch behind you past the horizon, well you're going to lose dinos regardless of what you do.

The only safe dino is one under your direct control, and when they auto-attack, they are not under your control anymore. That was the point of the suggestion. If you don't like it, suggest something else, preferably without all the doomsaying.

Edit: I'll actually suggest something else. Let the player choose what aggression state whistling Follow sets them to. I guarantee I want mine on Passive, but if you want yours on Neutral, there you go. Problem solved, and the sky didn't fall even one bit.

You are too logical for the forums.  You must stop suggestions lest you be forum-trolled away.

You could have skipped all of the bloviating and just lead with this.

That's a really good solution and your post would have been much better if you just deleted all of the grandstanding and said that you were improving your suggestion in response to valid feedback. But hey, if you needed to feel better by accusing me of hyperbolic fearmongering (which is the best kind of fearmongering by the way,  just in case anyone asks. I mean, if you're going to monger some fear it's so much more effective if you hyper a handful of bolics into it first, but I digress) then I guess that's okay too.

Too late, but thanks for the advice! I has dev kit, I care not about suggestions anymore.

and I never cared about trollers, it just occasionally amuses me to call them out on their BS.

This is a much better suggestion than the original, I agree completely but I also don't see the need for it honestly. I do like more customization but I can also agree with @Pipinghot where he states learning that is intergal to the game.

Maybe we could suggest the system be bettet explained in a FAQ made by WC? Is there even one? I dont think it would be the worst idea for an official FAQ style page explaining basic mechancs.

(Yes I know there is Wiki just as easily)
