[REPORT] CRYOPOD IS OP

Recommended Posts

Cryopods currently are not op. If a base is properly built with good turret coverage it shouldn't be an issue at all. People have been flak raiding poorly designed bases forever. There is no way I can see them being practically used in raiding a well designed base other than for the transport of dinos. If a base is so poorly designed that you can just pop a dino out in someone's base and whistle attack then that base has a serious issue. There's no dino right now that can just be thrown into turrets and soak more than 10 heavys for more than a couple minutes and then you're just sacrificing your dino at the point.... which is basically no different than stego dropping. Every single cave is raidable if people have enough kits and rockets. Or even better tek rifles do major work in caves. The meta is just changing to a faster paced form of pvp. The biggest issues right now that cryopods are causing(not sure if its patched) is that you can use them to bring in more dinos into boss fights and even dinos that aren't allowed into the boss fights, such as gigas. If you want to talk about OP and game breaking talk about the titans, they are a much more serious issue than cryopods. People will adjust to cryopod gameplay, just like every other gameplay change. But the titans are a whole nother story because there's really no way to fight them they show up at your base except with another titan and they are waaaaay too easy to tame. At least with the titanosaur you can take 2 imprinted gigas and easy go kill it.

This is the problem with ark, PvE players trying to play PvP and screaming when their base gets wiped. CRYOPODS ARE NOT OP!!! Stop demanding WC nerf something extremely useful just because you cant build a base well.

The issue isnt that crypopods are OP its that you just can build well enough. The OP talks about people throwing pods after the crawl space in his cave where normally you cant fit a dino through, if you are building on a pvp server you have to build with defence in mind. Make a death wall that shoots as soon as somebody enters that crawl space, that way they cant get through it then throw a pod down. OPs whole point about fitting a dino in the cave is irrelevent because if a raider can walk through the crawl space anyway he can just throw down a transmitter and pull tames out. Pods just make it cheaper to do so but if he wants to raid your cave he will. Also running past your turrets then throwing a pod? if hemanages to simply run past your turrets the issue is your towers not cryopods, think about putting turrets on the backside of the tower? More dense turret coverage? Plant Y and bear traps? Railings?

Even if we take this scenario, if raider has the balls to run past your turrets with his dinos on him in a pod then whats wrong with him throwing said dinos out behind your towers? High risk high reward right? if he dies he loses his dinos.

This is a build issue not that  cryopods need nerfed. Pods are only good for two things really in pvp, 1 being that its cheaper than throwing a trans down and 2 bypassing the upload timer so you can scout multiple servers on the same pt.

Stop ruining the game for pvp players just cause you dont know how to pvp, tired of PvEers coming to pvp and expecting that their bases should be unraidable.

It's not pve people complianing when stuff is nerfed man it's pvp players the main reason nerfs are handed out lol !!

I would personally prefer a way to counter them over a flat-out restriction. For example, a Tek structure that disrupt the release of cryogenic creatures within a certain area that raiders would first have to find and destroy in order to be able to bring their tames and meat-run the place would be more immersive and would bring more defensive/offensive tactical aspects to raiding.

I think this is the best solution to the problem. It fits in with the game, fits in with the mechanics, and would largely address many or most of the issues people have on the topic. It won't help the people who are always hunting for things to moan about though.

Lol you guys saying the cryopod needs to be nerfed are stupid. First of all the Dino’s you pop out of the poke ball have the exact amount of hp as when you put them in there and on top of that you can only put it 1 dono every 5 min (300 sec). As well as the fact that (if you’ve been listening) they take 10x damage if they put them out all at once and that they have to walk by foot or on another Dino to even get to the place to deploy them. Also you should adapt. Make your bases in obscure places so they can’t reach them and so that even if they put out a Dino they have to go through the same as a regular raid. If your that person that’s dumb enough to build in a cave you can put your gates right up next to the entrance so that the player can’t place his Dino’s inside your base, instead having to put his Dino’s completely outside and so that if they don’t fit in the cave they of course have to deal with that too. All in all, the only thing you need to do is keep the game mechanics in mind and make it so that they absolutely cannot place Dinos inside.

This guy should understand and his logic makes perfect sense!!

So... basically you use them for storage and transport too

Also as a PvE player, you can also use it to get thylacoleos into the Ice Queen arena. Originally you would need to breed them into the cave and raise the baby inside due to the opening being too small and once you did get it in there, it was never coming back out so you'd have to check it regularly to make sure it hadn't starved. Lost a pink belly mutation this way. I'm sure if it wasn't intended both methods would be patched by now.

Or transfer via cave loot drop.

I'm pretty sure that was patched. Plus don't you think fighting your way half through on foot to get to the drop is a bit more of a pain than beginning from the start with a Thyla or Dire Wolf? It just allows people who don't have high tier armor and weapons to get that. Especially those who didn't have Extinction during the Gachas prime.

The only thing that Cryopods need to be adjusted is to not allow deployment in enemy structure range. It negates a lot of thought and careful planning on base locations when a player picks a spot that he/she has to contend with cons for pros of accessibility restrictions of enemies.

Ark favors attacking vs defending too much already. This is just one more ace up the sleeve of raiders who were already holding all the cards....

You guys and your Cryopod hate, if your pvp base cannot handle the release of a single solitary dino, you built wrong. If someone manages to get to your base and release a dino in your base, you built wrong.

All i see here is crying that your cave base can be attacked using dinos now. And for reference, The Cryopod cannot release a dino in an area that it will not actually fit in, so there are size limits on deployment in certain areas.

Also being reliant on turrets alone is dumb, you need plant species x to slow players and tames down too so the turrets can rip them to shreds.

Cryopods dont need to be changed, your strategy needs to change.

I can drain your turrets with a single cryopod bro even your plant x you obviously  think you know everything haha do you know this man?how a single player with no dino can drain 100 heavy turrets with a single cryopod takes time but very cost effective  ;)

And? Its pvp, nothing is safe, given enough time any tribe can drain your turrets out, Cryopods didnt change that, they just changed how it can be done. And no i dont know everything, but i know just enough to get by.

Also if you set turrets to players only, cryopods and tames wont drain your turrets, same thing with setting them to mounted tames too. Turrets and plant species x have firing settings for a reason, its not my fault you people dont know how to efficiently set your turrets. On top of that you have Heavy auto turrets now that can dish out even more damage, between those 3 things and the settings if you cant protect a base in a cave, you need to work on your strategy.

a single dino, the right kind, plus a snow owl is all anyone needs to drain all 100 easy. If you dont know this then you need more experience on this matter. Right now attacking is super cheap while defending is very expensive. So over time attacks wear down defense. The ability to deploy to side step defenses makes the already imbalance worse.

Again you dont get it. he is talking about a exploit/feature that allows you to drain turrets with never actually deploying the dino.

Tek Disruptor

A high power device that emits an electromagnetic field which disrupts certain projectiles such as Tek Grenades among other things, that are thrown into its radius.

Reflects Tek Grenades, Tek Gravity Grenades, Cryopods and Homing Rockets back at the user when coming into contact with the AoE of the Deflector. Has the same radius options and Element consumption as a Tek Generator.

This engram unlocked by defeating the King Titan on Gamma difficulty or higher.

This isn't a problem unless your defenses aren't built good enough to keep someone who's trying to beer run your turrets out. If someone beer runs your turrets and gets inside your perimeter then you have a problem. Your entire base should have towers overlapping each other so no matter where you are in the base, you are always within range of a tower.
