Aylana314159
Dedicated server is what you need. Check out ASM (ark server manager). You server would be LAN, so no need to port forward. It just takes more hard drive space, but worth it because any client crashes don't effect the server.

Arkzombie
Does having a dedicated server mea. I have to leave my pc on all the time. Or can i just run the server when we want to play? You think the pc is good enough to both run the server and play on it with both people.

You can stop the server or turn the PC off when you're not playing Ark. I do this with a testing server, but my unofficial server stays on 24/7. If there's only two of you going to use the server then you might be ok to play on the PC that runs the server. Try it for a while to see what the performance is like. I would strongly recommend you create a whitelist so that you can control who is allowed to join.
