FuriousTheMonkeyboy
I have not played vanilla ARK in over a year easily; I always play modded. I started a new server with a few friends so we could experience the game as it was "intended". I am certain that originally we could shoot off flyers because I tamed a quetz shooting off the back of a Pelagornis but now all the tools and weapons are unavailable while mounted. Is this by design or is my server goofed up somehow?
Aylana314159
You can shoot from a Griffin. I don't think you can from the others.
Corrigan
Can shoot off a griffin. Can shoot from riding the back of a tappy too I believe, but you need a driver
CitoaK
You can stand on hovering wyvern if follow distance is set to highest and following. Also you can dismount and grapple then shoot while grappled.
Thegeekgroundhog
Here is the list of all the creatures that you can equip weapons on. The only flyer is griffin. https://ark.gamepedia.com/Category:Creatures_that_can_be_ridden_while_wielding_weapons
Kaprosuchus
you have never been able to shoot from the back of birds in unmodded ark. ever. except for griffins
Volunteer Moderator invincibleqc Posted July 31, 2018 Volunteer Moderator Share Posted July 31, 2018 If I remember correctly, there was an unintended mechanic for quite some time that allowed the use of any weapons from the back of a Pelagornis when they introduced the use of a fishing rod but was later fixed. Probably what OP is referencing here.
