Community Livestream Round-Up!

On June 18th we had our fourth Community Livestream. Thank you to all of those who attended and participated! The community team had a lot of fun and we hope you did as well. If you weren't able to catch the stream you can watch the video-on-demand on our Twitch page or by clicking on the video below.

The stream began with a round-up of Extinction related information that was released following the Extinction trailer. Mod Community Manager ZenRowe then showcased eco's Mods. These mods are part of the Sponsored Mod Program and are definitely worth checking out! eco is well known in the unofficial community for her decorative and RP mods.

Our community guest this week was xRowCat! Rowena Frenzel is a freelance 3D artist who created the Brachiosaurus Costume, Stygimoloch Costume, and Styracosaurus Costume for the ARKaeology Event. She chatted about the workflow on these creature skins and taught us the process of creating 3D art.

We are accepting any type of ARK related fanart to be featured in the Showcase section of the stream and entries are always open. This can be drawings, videos, builds, ANSEL screenshots, handmade crafts, anything ARK related!

We'll be hosting our next Community Live Stream on Thursday, July the 5th! We hope to see you there :)

It's nice that WC is recognising raft spam as against the rules now, but are we still completely ignoring tame cap issues? Rafts aren't causing servers to cap out as fast as they are, its people holding dinos on multiple servers they don't play on. Spamming tames only makes uploading your tames for a slot difficult, doesn't fix the fact you have to upload just to tame something you need. You brought out more servers and within days they were capped, how are we expected to keep playing like this? Just wait for Extinction to come out so people will move a few tames off i suppose.

It was lovely that you gave us a 3x event, but as soon as it hit my breeding server capped out leaving the rest of the weekend as a reconstruction of what happens on my main server. Waiting for a slot and trying to incubate eggs so i can sort out a dino line, having half the community scream at eachother because they want to mate. We're struggling here, WC. We can't all go unofficial or private, big tribes go down and within days we're capped again.

The whole quetz platform counting as 20 tames is not helping cap at all either. You figure, if theres 15 different tribes on pve all having atleast 1 thats 300 tames right there.

Unless they've changed something (deliberately or in error), platform saddles only count as 20 dinos if:
1-You build something on it; and
2-They only count against your personal tribe-tame count. -Not the server tame count.
Rafts count against your personal tribe-tame count *&* the Server Tame Cap.

Ok please explain this then... How would 20 dinos of my tribes tame count not go towards server tame count. Not being a jerk. It just doesnt make any sense... And i know they have to build on them. Its safe to say there are multiple quetzals with ramps on pve servers.

Spamming tames? So if I go out and tame say 10 jerboas just to kill off later if the server caps so I can actually tame something needed/wanted... is that considered spamming? I understand the whole raft thing, but how many rafts is too many?

What is this 'too many tames with platforms message' I got with attaempting to put a structure on a quetz I need in place in order to transport more than one anky around for metal/obsidian runs. Now its going to be one anky at a time thing.

This is going to turn out like the 'spamming pillars/foundations' rule all over again. No concrete info, just generalizations of 'this is a no no' that leaves the players wondering just how hard they can push the envelope.

The spamming pillars thing could be resolved with a 'no build' zone for important resources like metal rich ore, crystal, and obsidian plus new player spawn points and caves. Wouldn't hurt to have some sort of visual cue of 'area of effect' for a pillar to see where its reaching. Not that we'll be able to do pillars now anyway I suppose.

All I can tell you is this as proof: Our current PvE Island server has been at capped since Friday evening after the breeding/maturation event started (not a surprise). We sold a Q that had a built on platform saddle. When removed the structures from the platform before completing the sale our tribe count dropped 19 slots. But the eggs we were attempting to cook down did NOT flicker from "Too Many Tamed Creatures on the Ark".
Normally if the server gets below even one slot it'll flicker.
Now - WHY is it a tribe cap but not a server cap issue? No clue. That's like asking why a raft or motorboat counts as a dino when you do not tame it but you craft it. Just like you craft your weapons, clothes and ammo.

What’s the point of these mod showcases and the mod program? You guys don’t do anything with any of it, so what is the point ? It’s cool the mod authors get some press but other than that the only other thing they are good for is showing that modders do a much better job at improving the game than you devs do lol

I was wondering the same thing many times. I also think it is just to give airtime to certain modders as you rarely see any of these mods being incorporated in the game. Sure PC players can use these mods any time they want , but for console players it's useless unless incorporated into the game.

The point of the mod program is to get high quality mods for Ark. They *pay* the sponsored mod authors to develop the mods as long as they are working on it and they are hitting their goals. Its always been about a partnership with the modders. They talk about it in the announcement.

I know its not what the people on console want to hear, but the mods have always been a huge part of Ark. They are not going to abandon such a large part of the community just because some platforms don't support mods. Unfortunately, that's a thing with consoles, and has been since I have been gaming.

To be honest, the quality of mods jumped tremendously once they started the program. Over the years I have had several issues due to the mods running on my servers. Much less so with the sponsored mods.

Does "ALL PLATFORMS" for events include mobile?

No, ARK Mobile is completely separate from ARK and is developed by Wardrum Studios. They run their own events for Mobile, so keep an eye on their announcements here: https://survivetheark.com/index.php?/arkmobile/

We've had a chinese tribe lure a giga to an open base of some other big tribe so it could take care of most of their tames so they can breed. This went extreme.

A day later we were capped cause some new 2-people tribe joined and downloaded 40 animals at once from the obelisk.

Fix it pls. It's getting way too competitive on PVE. Or at least idk maybe VISIT EVERY NOW AND THEN.

yeah,, platform not count at server limit... 1 dino +19 platform...

we test it already

.. at server capped we demolish bronto platform,, and still capped.. and we still can rebuild it even on capped server. and add our limit at tribe.

i Think yes. that spamming.. so other cant tame. (bcuse u spam tame 10 jerboa = for keep server limit)
but 10 too small < xD maybe need like 50-200 .

so maybe u can breed something to kill after (not sure breed mass thing will be mean spam too)

hehe, just my opinion.

PvE Specific Griefing

Additional rule

Intentionally filling the server tame limit via spamming tames and/or rafts

What are the guidelines on this? Where is the limit between Intentionally filling the server and actually using the dino's (for example 200-400 dino's that are bred at least once a week)

Is this something the GM team will do pro-activly or do we have to report people first before GM's take a look at it? I got about 10 tribes divided over 4 servers with 450+ tames each which mainly are jerboa's/vultures/wolfs/sabers/rex's/dodo's etc. and all low level.

And my last question: What will the sanction be for spamming? Is it going to be again like first 15 warnings before removing the tames or is it just a message up ahead with "you have 24 hour to fix yo poop or we'll fix it for you". and giving away 30 day bans for repeating offenses (all structures decay including tek).

Its a good rule and I'm happy with it but it will be no benefit whatsoever if it isn't enforced.
