Ark on Windows 10 doesn't start now?

Recommended Posts

I had been enjoying playing on a server I ran on my computer for a while now through the windows store. Now, the game just won't start. At all. I've tried reinstalling , checking drivers, restarting the computer, putting the game on a different drive. Nothing has fixed it. It starts, and after about 2 seconds crashes again. The reviews on the windows store have a lot of people who have the same issue. This is ridiculous. Ark is a full price game, it should not have this kind of bug in it that affects this many people. Anyone have any thoughts on how to get past this bug? Or why they haven't fixed it........

I am getting this also, seems Microsoft Dcom server issue, the thing that checks for DRM/license validity.

Temporary fix:

It looks like installing any app from the Microsoft store will resolve this issue as well.

1. download any free app

2. launch ark

3. magic

It is only temporarily, there is a bigger issue at play.

A small tip about this temporary fix, you don't actually need to finish downloading whatever it is -- I just purchase a specific game, start downloading, then immediately cancel, and that resolves my issue -- I can use the same game every time this happens -- 2-3 times per week.  This is also annoying because I am hosting a dedicated server and when this issue occurs it causes the server to crash, often rolling back the server up to 2 hours.

It amazes me how much more stable the Steam version is than the windows 10 release, and I'm pretty disappointed as its the only way I can play with my Xbox friends!
