can agree with this. We managed to kill Rockwell on alpha with 8 drakes and asc shotguns.

here is the video to our run in case anyone is interested:

so did you use the stealth just to throw the nameless and reapers off? We jumped in gamma just spur the moment and a "hold my beer" mode. no org, no plan, no venom stock ect and it seemed viable with a lil more prep to go straight to alpha as well.

do not underestimate alpha we did gamma before to with literally no preparation. Alpha was no joke and my mates were not seen much in this video. Some of them barely survived. The stealth was only for minions which still attacked sometimes.

We went in with 2 rockdrakes with ascended saddles, ascended shotguns, full flack and roughly 12 spinos.
We lost all spinos against the reapers, but their main purpose was to serve as distraction while we dealt with the boss.

Ran/flew around with the rock drakes, constantly shooting the boss with our shotguns.
Tentacles first, then heart when he went down.
Think we shot a total of 400 bullets or something in him before he died, almost getting killed ourselves.

Stealth doesn't always seem to throw off the reapers, but it definitely gives you a breather now and then.
The orbs....man the orbs are annoying and painful.
And they do see you through the stealth after the nerf.

First attempt we failed horribly on the boss, but second attempt we kept one person on his drake in the front.
The other ran around killing the tentacles. They should be going down with a few shots normally depending on the strength of your shotgun.
When the boss exposes his heart, first person unloads hell on it with his shotgun.
Just keep repeating till the boss dies.

Spinos in our case dealt with the elemental reaper kings as they spawned, but didn't stand a chance without the Charge debuff on them.
Still they survived through three rounds before getting eaten.
Final round we both had to run around the boss to lure all reapers away and both unloaded hell in the final push to bring him down.

We'll probably go in with a third person for beta, and maybe even four persons for Alpha.
We definitely want to give the Megalosaurus a go in this fight as their damage is way higher.
With the additional players getting the charge debuff on the reapers ought to be more doable.

Remember that unmounted megalosaurus do not do a significant dps as they prefer to only spam their grab attack.

To OP, if you use megalos make sure your unmounted dinos are something else, like reapers, drakes or spinos.

270 dmg shotgun on gamma took 3 shots per tentacle. i imagine alpha should be 6 or so shots per.

Yeah, but if the tables I checked are correctly their base damage should be higher than a Spino.

Ridden yes. Unridden, no. Because they dont use their main attack, they use the utility grab which does very pitiful damage and naturally cannot pickup reapers or tentacles.

Still, base damage for a Spino according the Wiki is 50.
Megalosaurus is 75. Surely that's their normal melee attack?

It is. But the tamed megalo ai refuses to use its normal attack.

yeah that's fine.
We're just looking for things to try out in the fight that live longer then our spinos did.
Granted they were 1gen breed, but they died......fast

so Beta we'll try it with some good bred Mega's

The megas will live longer. But dont expect them to kill much... Personally id recommend either reapers or drakes. But i guess those are hard to get in large numbers.

A side question, but what happens to your dinos when you beat Rockwell and ascend?   Are they gone forever or do they appear next to the obelisk or whatever drop you used to teleport in?

I took my stuff down to the blue obi, beat rockwell, ascended.. And everything was still down at the bottom of the map at the obelisk

Blue ob is north west surface(can't remember which exact one), it's Rockwell's terminal you're talking about.

@OP the don't bother with megalos unless you're gonna be manning them yourselves. Unless you're gonna throw them away like trash then go ahead as you will need tanks to distract the adds that come in if you're gonna focus entirely on the fight itself.
