After 15 minutes, offline damage prevention stops this from happening. Odds are, when logging in, your body likely clipped through the world. This happens occasionally, and when it does, it'll instantly kill your character. This has been a bug since the early days of early access. Recommended to store gear and/or sleep in a bed when logging out. Side benefit, if you have a tek bed, you gain exp from sleeping in it. (If you're not already maxed out.) OrisRas Posted January 3, 2018 Share Posted January 3, 2018 I generally hear about this too, the problem generally is other people either one: dragging you into water (like stated above) or two they'll kite a predator over to kill you if youre in a wood or thatch base. Bruvas78 Posted January 3, 2018 Share Posted January 3, 2018 If you were killed by a dino, it would tell you in the log. Sometimes dinos spawn inside buildings. If it just says that you died, then the highest probability is that someone clipped your body out the building and dragged you into water to drown you and steal the gear you had on when you logged off. Very common place in PvE servers. Have an overnight chest in the area you log off - remove all your armour and place all your quickslot items in it before logging off.
