20GT
I can't get on at the moment to check out how the pros and cons of this would work. But my idea is to use a ramp to get to the top of the vaults to use as the floor for my dinos to walk on. Putting my machinery on just enough ceiling tiles suspended above them so that i can reach everything and save space. What are your thoughts? Saupe
It's buggy, dropped items can fall through the gaps no matter how small etc, you can get the floor height perfect with a few foundation drops though.
cattafett
i have my vaults above my fab and chem bench on hatchways so i can stand on them and reach the vaults
HiImZech
I made something like this for my metal smelting smithy room it works. only thing is don't drop stuff or they may get stuck inbetween the vaults
AngrySaltire
Trying to line up the vaults would be great fun........ I honestly cant wait for the implementation of S+ into the base game. Being able to snap structures together like vaults in this case would be a God send lol

When you climb a ladder, your character angle get perfectly aligned with the floor it is snapped to meaning that your vaults will be perfectly aligned if you make sure to align yourself first by climbing a ladder. Cool Thanks. I guess I can use that as a work around hopefully till S+ implementation if that part is implemented. Would just be easier if they added snap points

Volunteer Moderator invincibleqc Posted December 26, 2017 Volunteer Moderator Share Posted December 26, 2017 Great to make a wall of vaults as well. That was my dock on legacy: Don't mind the sleeping bag, that was when my SE server got shut down I was filling myself, then transferring from a transmitter back to island and spawning at one of them to unload heavy stuff directly into a vault. Great to align anything... Even works on platform saddles:

Either way I won't be dropping anything up there. Oooops quoted the wrong post oh well lol
20GT
The vaults in this picture must have been before they shrunk the vault smaller.

No they used to be like 5 walls high. That's the current size, only slightly taller than the large storage boxes next to them.
Oli4
I currently use vaults as a floor in my crafting area(at some spots at least): Dodo's are for paste storage vaults are dropped into the grinders, I mainly create gunpowder here Inside I can also access the forges if I want to place the ingots in the replicator instead of the vaults outside: Roof:

Oli4
Single doorframe per forge, can also place a door in it And open/close it
HiImZech
its precisely because people are using vaults as walls hence they reduced the size of the vault making it uber expensive but give us 1 year. we will make a wall of vaults again :3 inb4 too many vaults. new limit = 100 vault per 10k unit inb4qqtoofewvaults
