SlendyMen
I had the glorous idea on tamming one to protect my dodo farm in the highlands from pesky raiders, and to protect me from other things. But when i am face to face with the bull soo to speak i shoot it with my arrows but the bloody thing wouldn't go down, i went through about 20 of my arrows and 11 left with a mad bull charging me. I only turn and shoot hitting it in the head. So the question remains how mean arrows does it take to bring it down to heel?
Volunteer Moderator GP Posted December 20, 2017 Volunteer Moderator Share Posted December 20, 2017 How many tranqs depends on both the lvl of the Trike, and also where you hit it. The Trike's head has a very boney structure so is more defensive then the rest of its body, which means it requires a lot more than if you were to hit it in it's belly or anywhere else besides the head. I would advise you to use Dododex to get a rough idea of how many tranq arrows would be required for a certain lvl. http://www.dododex.com/taming/triceratops

Buy a "high ground" DLC get on a cliff so it cant hit you and shoot from above at its body.

Campi
I usually go after them with some trees between me and the trike. Make it run into the tree head on - as soon as it gets stuck on the tree it will turn to the side to go around it. Thats the moment you shoot it in the a**. Repeat until it's down

Zourin
115% run speed. The trikes' head is armored and reduces damage and torpor. With about 110-115% run speed (which is a good minimum for survival, 120 is better overall), you can circle strafe fast enough to hit it in the side, as long as you don't run into objects. ChargingParacerParacer
You can try kiting it to the beach and running circles around it because they have pretty bad turning radiuses, also like Zourin said giving yourself higher speed is very helpful.
